About the IRC

Huawei Ireland Research Centre's (IRC) mission is to position Huawei as a recognized technology leader and global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider. To achieve this we are building an industry-recognized multi-discipline Research Centre of experts focusing on medium-term to long-term issues. The IRC will work closely with an open innovative ecosystem with Huawei customers to address real-world issues. The IRC will also engage with key European universities to build a basic research capability to support Huawei technical projects.

About the Job

As a Machine Learning Engineer, you will play a key role in developing and deploying product features, tasks, and models. Your primary responsibility will be to ensure the smooth operation of production pipelines, utilizing internal tools effectively. You will also be expected to offer suggestions and optimize the production workflow. Additionally, you will support the development of complex algorithms and models using large, real-world datasets to drive the success of the project. You will regularly collaborate with Huawei Headquarters to stay updated with state-of-the-art advancements and ensure global version consistency.

Responsibilities

• Ensure the continuous operation and stability of production pipelines, troubleshooting issues and optimizing workflow efficiency.
• Develop, maintain, and optimize deep learning-based recommender system models for various use cases, such as click-through rate (CTR) prediction.
• Collaborate with data scientists to transform data science prototypes into production-ready solutions, perform statistical analyses, and assess the online performance of these models in large-scale environments.
• Continuously interpret model performance and recommend adjustments to improve prediction accuracy, scalability, and overall business impact.
• Building, maintaining, and optimizing training-ready features from raw data to improve model training performance.
• Work cross-functionally with multiple teams to enhance the overall performance of the advertising recommender framework, ensuring alignment with the latest advancements and business needs.

Requirements

• Phd/Master's degree in a quantitative discipline (e.g., Computer Science, Information Systems, Mathematics, Statistics, Physics, and Bioinformatics)
• Experience applying advanced Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence techniques to real-world and large-scale problems is highly preferable.
• Solid foundation in Machine Learning, with a deep understanding of the underlying algorithms, theories, and mathematical principles.
• Strong programming skills in Python and SQL, with applied experience in Deep Learning frameworks such as Keras, TensorFlow, and PyTorch.
• Programming skill in Java is a plus.
• Experience and knowledge in Hadoop, Spark, and Hive are preferred
• Work experience in Online Advertising, Search Engines, or Recommender Systems is preferred
• Chinese speaking is a plus to ease your communications with Huawei Head quarters.
