Your position

You will work in a multidisciplinary team of around 25 people in the Applications & Solutions department, focusing mainly on finite element modelling and data analysis of industrial applications such as overhead cranes.

You will be able to combine advanced mechanical engineering skills with high level numerical modelling challenges to contribute to the development of advanced steel solutions and co-engineering projects to achieve win-win value creation projects in different market segments and to ensure that OCAS remains at the forefront of technology. 

In this context, you will closely collaborate on specific projects on structural integrity and structural health monitoring of welded steel structures and equipment.  Such projects will include a variety of challenges with regards to model setup, integration of measurement data from different sources, dataflow and dashboarding.

You will be actively involved in setting up new R&D projects with customers, international partners and ArcelorMittal production plants.

 

Your profile

- You have a PhD in Mechanical Engineering or have worked as a mechanical engineer in an R&D or engineering design & analysis environment for at least 5 years. 

- You are an expert in FE modelling techniques including static analysis

- Experience with data analysis and treating large amounts of data e.g. using Python is preferred

- Experience in fatigue of welded structures, remaining lifetime assessments, reliability and structural integrity of metal structures is an advantage

- Mature personality with a healthy degree of independence, dedicated to industrial R&D, striving for accuracy and demonstrating scientific pride and honesty.

- Excellent social skills towards team members and customers.

- You have a high capacity to be flexible and handle a variety of projects.

- Willingness to travel regularly within Europe

- Fluent in English (written and spoken); knowledge of Dutch is an advantage
