Intermediate Cloud Engineer

Role Purpose

The purpose of the Intermediate Cloud Engineer is to supports the design, implementation, and maintenance of AWS cloud infrastructure. This role contributes to building scalable and efficient cloud solutions to meet the needs of Engineering Teams. The Intermediate Cloud Engineer will work under guidance from Senior Engineers while progressively taking ownership of tasks, ensuring cloud infrastructure stability, cost efficiency, and adherence to best practices.

Role Description

• Assist in designing and maintaining cloud infrastructure solutions using AWS services to support analytics and engineering workloads.
• Collaborate with senior engineers and stakeholders to understand cloud requirements and translate them into practical solutions.
• Implement monitoring, testing, and automation procedures for cloud infrastructure, ensuring its efficiency and reliability.
• Assist in code reviews by providing feedback and learning from senior engineers, while adhering to coding standards and best practices for cloud infrastructure development.
• Participate in troubleshooting cloud-related issues and implement fixes to maintain a healthy cloud environment.
• Contribute to the stability and uptime of the cloud platforms in AWS used to delivery high quality analytics solutions.
• Contribute to technical documentation for infrastructure, deployment processes, and best practices.
• Support the deployment and maintenance of cloud environments, ensuring stability and performance.
• Promote and implement DevOps best practices within the team.
• Contribute to infrastructure as code (IaC) practices, primarily using Terraform, under senior guidance.
• Assist in maintaining CICD pipelines for cloud deployments.
• Provide support to ML and Analytics Engineers so they can gain maximum value from the AWS Cloud.

Qualifications and Experience

• Degree or Diploma in Computer Science, Software Development, Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 1 year of practical experience working with AWS cloud solutions.
• Experience in building cloud infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with Terraform (or similar IaC tools) for managing cloud infrastructure.
• Exposure to Python scripting for cloud automation and AWS API interactions.
• Experience in using Kubernetes for container orchestration.
• Prior experience in troubleshooting and resolving cloud-related incidents.
• Foundational knowledge of AWS services such as EC2, S3, IAM, RDS, Lambda, and CloudWatch.
• Exposure to monitoring tools such as CloudWatch, Grafana, or similar,
• Experience with Linux-based cloud environments and shell scripting.
• Proficiency in utilizing version control systems (e.g., Git) and adeptness in collaborative development workflows
• Experience to applying software engineering best practices to cloud engineering projects.
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps workflows.
• Basic understanding of networking, security principles, and cloud cost management.
• Experience collaborating in multi-functional teams and establishing relationships with diverse teams across the business.
• Experience working in an Agile environment.
