Ideal candidates for this position will be deeply curious and have a passion for following the latest trends and experiments in the industry. They will also have proven experience creating replicable workflows to scale analysis and our team’s impact. They will be thoughtful about the large and small strategies that can be implemented to improve our audience’s experience of our journalism across a variety of channels while maintaining a deep commitment to our public service mission.

Responsibilities

  • Support key strategic analyses on off-platform audience behavior and trends for the newsroom

  • Design reports, dashboards and data workflows that support the daily analytics needs of video, audio, newsletter and social media editors

  • Partner with colleagues in the revenue, engineering and product teams to design data tools that scale to the needs of The Post’s newsroom

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in off-platform analytics, including working with native platform analytics (e.g., Meta Business Suite, YouTube Analytics, etc.) and analytics APIs

  • Proven experience designing and evaluating product and/or content experiments and a keen sense for data gaps and inconsistencies

  • Proven expertise and deep experience doing data analysis using Google Sheets or Excel

  • Skills in visualizing data, drawing conclusions, synthesizing insights and explaining results to a non-technical audience

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, particularly the ability to develop narratives around findings and adjust delivery for different audiences

  • Ability to work independently with minimal day-to-day supervision as well as in a collaborative team environment

  • Self-starter with the ability to work in a constantly changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience fetching and analyzing data using tools such as SQL, Python, R and/or analytics APIs

  • Experience developing reliable data pipelines

  • Experience working in a newsroom with a variety of stakeholders including editors, reporters, and newsroom leaders

We will consider strong candidates who do not meet all of the qualifications above.
