Actual compensation will depend on a candidate’s education, experience, skills, and geographic location.  The anticipated wage for this position is

$162,000 - $261,800

COMPANY OVERVIEW

The Business Insights and Analytics (BI&A) team is a global analytics and insights function focused on driving improved patient and business outcomes through strategic and innovative insights grounded in data and analytics. The Senior Director – Business Insights & Analytics (BI&A) – IBU Analytics leads coordination of global analytics delivery in BI&A. The Sr Dir – BI&A IBU Analytics will provide leadership and coordination of the BI&A IBU analytics roadmap for global delivery of data and capabilities. The Sr Dir – BI&A IBU Analytics reports to the Head of BI&A. 

Responsibilities and Objectives 

This job requires the coordination of the International Business Unit analytics roadmap across prioritized areas of delivery within BI&A. This leader will work across all functions of BI&A (GBS and non-GBS), Tech@Lilly IBU (GBS and Non-GBS teams), IBU central, and local hubs to ensure the successful delivery of data and analytics products that drive decision making in IBU central and the IBU affiliates. 

 Key Objectives include: 

  • Serve as a the main point of contact for IBU analytics needs 
  • Maintain the roadmap of BI&A deliverables and work across teams to keep work moving, while helping remove barriers as needed
  • Partner with BI&A senior leadership team on setting the strategic direction and vision for IBU data and analytics product delivery
  • Coordinate with BI&A senior leaders to prioritize analytics tasks and make trade-off decisions to maximize business outcomes for Lilly IBU 
  • Facilitate analytic delivery as needed across customer groups and functions 
  • Influence the adoption of analytics solutions in the IBU (including leading the communication of products and results)
  • Manage a wide variety of senior stakeholders and junior colleagues as a part of a highly matrixed organization
  • Become the champion for delivering analytics insights (descriptive through prescriptive) with recommended actions within the IBU. 
  • Give guidance and feedback for cross-functional team to efficiently deploy analytics resources 
  • Develop a pipeline of analytics talent and leadership, and contribute to an inclusive community of analytics expert practitioners
  • Develop a deep understanding of business goals, pain points, and business drivers in the IBU with a focus on prioritized countries and TAs 
  • Collaborate with your counterparts across local analytic teams to ensure consistent analytics choices, data definitions, and business rules for analytics models 
  • Help translate analytics outcomes into business insights to guide business decisions
  • Use data democratization dashboard tools to provide analytics expertise and champion teaching the central and affiliate IBU teams how to use the tools to derive insights 
  • Lead teammates with solid and dotted line relationships on the delivery of high quality, validated analytics work
  • Provide support and leadership in capabilities initiatives such as omnichannel, adaptive targeting, content effectiveness, and dynamic targeting. 
  • Champion the use of marketing mix model results to inform investment decisions 
  • Champion and encourage a testing culture (with prospectively designed experiment) that rapidly tests, measures, and iterates on content and engagements to improve impact and patient outcomes
  • Support standardization and automation efforts within BI&A in order to increase team productivity and efficiency (including standard business rules, contributing / using common code, etc)
  • Provide leadership to teams to translate analytics needs into technical requirements for data engineering teams in the local hubs that result in the creation of standard data products that allow scale of analytics and advanced analytics solutions 
  • Collaborates with data privacy, ethics and compliance, and legal to understand privacy and legal requirements for data use and retain accountability for following the appropriate guidelines and procedures

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor’s Degree with 5+ years of relevant experience leading an analytical function or advanced degree with 3+ years of relevant experience
  • Qualified candidates must be legally authorized to be employed in the United States.

ADDITIONAL SKILLS / PREFERENCES

  • Quantitative background in engineering, statistics, mathematics, finance, or related
  • Strong analytical skills coupled with business acumen, and an ability to think strategically in an ambiguous environment
  • Experience using common data visualization platforms (e.g., Tableau, PowerBI) 
  • Broad awareness and working knowledge of advanced analytics areas such AI. ML, NLP and Predictive Analytics
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate analytics concepts and influence change with a variety of business stakeholder
  • Excellent communication (written & verbal), interpersonal influencing skills and prioritization skills with attention to detail
  • MBA or other advanced degree a plus
  • Working knowledge of statistical programming packages (e.g., R, SAS, Python, MATLAB) and types of predictive models a plus
  • Strong track record of leading and influencing direction in cross-functional teams 
  • Substantial analytics experience and understanding of complexities of IBU healthcare data sets used in the pharmaceutical business
  • Proven ability to rally resources to achieve project and business results
  • High level of motivation and a strong desire to find creative solutions to challenging situations
  • Demonstrated ability to enforce business rules and policies in a constructive but disciplined manner
