Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity available for a Data Architect located at our corporate office in Bloomington, MN. The Data Architect focuses on the development and support of the Analytics & Reporting Enterprise Data Warehouse (EDW) and PowerBI reporting environments at Dairy Queen. This position works on projects providing assistance and expertise to the business and IT representatives on how best to organize and provide information to meet the measurement and analytic needs of the organization. The incumbent provides support in the development, analysis, design, and management of a variety of complex data sources and visualization methods to support clinical and operational process improvement.
Additionally, the data architect will guide a team of data engineers to ensure consistent, reliable, and sustainable data solutions are delivered. The data architect will work with a team to influence data management processes that result in highly accurate and trusted data assets for use in across the organization.
Finally, the data architect influences stakeholders to ensure investments in data driven solutions are centered on optimizing clearly defined and quantified business outcomes. This position plans, designs, and optimizes for data throughput and query performance issues. This requires constantly updating expertise in areas such as platform, network and storage technologies, bandwidth management, data bus implications, and design.
Key Accountabilities Include:
Systems Engineering & Administration
- Design, architect, and document the database schema and data pipelines
- Capable of using agile methodology and implementing Continuous Integration/Continuous Delivery (CI/CD) pipelines
- Perform key thought leadership in areas of data engineering: modeling, integration, big data and cloud solution design, data warehousing, and data discovery
- Designs and develops appropriate Extraction, Transformation and Loading (ETL) applications Deploy and maintain system and database monitoring tools
- Perform other related duties as assigned
- Partner with BI team to define and establish architectures to support centralized metadata, reference data, business rules, and data sourcing and sharing controls
Service Development
- Define service commitment standards for cloud data warehousing via the publication and ownership of service-level objectives
- Maintain knowledge of emerging technology
- Define and meet SLA requirements for analytics components
- Embrace agile methodology for iterative development
Communication & Collaboration
- Ability to function as a technical lead, including hands-on implementation, as well as working closely with developers and data analysts
- Communicate effectively, verbally and in writing with people at all organizational levels
- Lead in a team environment making positive contributions to the organization
- Establish and maintain effective relationships with staff members, customers, and vendors
- Other duties as assigned or required
Data Governance
- Contribute to the creation of processes for improving data quality across the enterprise
- Provide leadership for developing and operating a data governance framework.
- Develop and implement operating and engagement model for incorporating data governance processes within project development and operations lifecycles
The US national base salary range for this position is $112,231- $140,289. This position is also eligible for a bonus. The base salary range displayed reflects the targeted hiring range for positions across all US locations. Individual pay is determined by job-related skills, work location and relevant education or experience.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
- B.S. or M.S. in computer science, computer engineering, or a related technical field or equivalent relevant experience in lieu of education
- 5+ years of experience in architecting data-driven solutions
- Minimum 5 years of experience in cloud-based ETL architecture/development, implementation and support
- Minimum 5 years of experience with Python, Bash, and other scripting languages
- 2+ years of experience architecting cloud-native data solutions on Microsoft Azure, ADF, AWS, Fabric, or Google Cloud platform Familiarity with large-scale analytics systems
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong written and oral communication skills

Work Environment
Most positions located out of our global headquarters in Bloomington, MN will work a hybrid work schedule where you will work 2 collaboration days a week. Additional in office time may be required to support team/project needs. Positions will be identified as “remote eligible” when consideration will be given to candidates outside of drivable distance to our Bloomington office.
