AI/NLP Research Scientist - Contract

About the Role:

Huawei Ireland Research Centre is seeking a Research Scientist in the domain of NLP, LLM, and AI in general. In this role, you will be working alongside other research scientists for conducting cutting edge research and development in the area of AI and NLP for solving the most complex challenges in cloud services and user experience management. You will be working on LLMs and their application on real-life problems for error-correction, recommendation and chatbot solutions.

Responsibilities:

- Work with business experts and scientists to build LLM models for application oriented NLP problems to drive business growth and commercial impact.

- Develop research problems to advance state of the art techniques.

- Prototype models to quantify and demonstrate the impact of input changes; seek optimal results through optimization techniques.

- Dataset acquisition and model evaluation and iteration to showcase its value.

- Development of small-scale software prototypes based on AI technologies, and benchmark alternative solutions.

- Work closely with Domain Experts, Data Engineers, and AI researchers.

- End-to-end AI solution development for related products.

- Publish paper in related conferences, and file patents as required.

Qualifications:

- Advanced education degree (Ph.D. preferred) in Mathematics, Statistics, Computer Science, or related fields.

- Strong knowledge in LLM and NLP domain (AI/ML in general).

- Prior research publications in related areas.

- Strong coding skills (e.g. Python, pyTorch, etc.)

- Excellent problem solving ability.

- Good verbal and written communication skills.
