Scope of the mission:

The intern will explore the capabilities of edge devices (such as the Jetson Orin Nano from NVIDIA) to leverage AI-powered real-time Computer Vision and edge computing for safety and monitoring applications. They will develop and optimize Computer Vision models for object detection, human activity recognition, and environmental awareness, enabling intelligent real-time analysis and decision-making.

Main tasks

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with the Data Science and Engineering team to design, develop, and implement Computer Vision algorithms for edge devices.
  • Assist in the integration of Computer Vision systems with robotic platforms, ensuring seamless operation and functionality.
  • Conduct research on the latest advancements in Computer Vision and robotics to improve system performance.
  • Analyze and preprocess data to train and optimize Computer Vision models for real-time applications.
  • Contribute to the deployment and monitoring of Computer Vision systems in a production environment.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to project planning and strategy discussions.

Qualifications:

  • Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Robotics, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding of Computer Vision algorithms and techniques (object detection, segmentation, image classification, feature extraction and 3D vision).
  • Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or C++.
  • Hands-on experience with modern Computer Vision models, including Convolutional Neural Networks (CNNs), Generative Adversarial Networks (GANs), and Transformers for vision tasks.
  • Experience with Computer Vision libraries and frameworks (e.g., OpenCV, TensorFlow, PyTorch).
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies is appreciated (Azure or AWS).
  • Familiarity with robotics platforms and tools (e.g. ROS) is a plus.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to learn quickly and adapt to a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.
