In this role you will:


The Director of Data Governance will be responsible for developing and implementing a data governance strategy and framework that promotes a data-driven culture while ensuring data quality, integrity, and security. Collaborating closely with multiple departments, the Director will establish and maintain data governance policies, standards, and practices that align with and support business objectives.



Typical Functions:


Data Governance Leadership:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data governance strategy and framework
  • Evaluate the organization's data governance needs and propose a suitable organizational structure
  • Assess the current data governance tool and recommend whether to retain or replace it.
  • Establish data governance policies, standards, and procedures to ensure data quality, integrity, and security
  • Establish & lead the Data Governance Committee and collaborate with stakeholders to drive data governance initiatives
  • Monitor compliance with data governance policies and address any issues or gaps

Data Quality and Integrity:

  • Define and enforce data quality standards and metrics
  • Implement data quality management processes to ensure accurate and reliable data
  • Conduct regular data quality assessments and audits
  • Work with data stewards to resolve data quality issues and improve data accuracy

Data Security and Privacy:

  • Develop and enforce data security and privacy policies in compliance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure data protection measures are in place to safeguard sensitive information
  • Collaborate with IT and legal teams to address data security and privacy concerns
  • Monitor and respond to data breaches or security incidents

Collaboration and Communication:

  • Foster a data-driven culture by promoting the importance of data governance across the organization
  • Provide training and support to employees on data governance policies and best practices
  • Communicate data governance goals, progress, and outcomes to senior leadership and stakeholders
  • Collaborate with IT, legal, compliance, and business units to align data governance efforts with business objectives





Requirements

Ideal Skills, Experience, and Competencies:


  • Proven experience in data governance, data management, or a related field (8+ years)
  • Strong understanding of data governance frameworks, policies, and best practices
  • Experience with data quality management, data security, and privacy regulations
  • Knowledge of data management tools and technologies
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with cross-functional teams and influence stakeholders  


Key Competencies:

  • Proven track record of developing and implementing data governance strategies and frameworks.
  • Ability to create and enforce data governance policies, standards, and procedures.
  • Strong skills in collaborating with stakeholders to ensure alignment with organizational objectives.
  • Meticulous in ensuring data quality, integrity, and security.
  • Ability to manage projects effectively and meet deadlines. 
  • In-depth knowledge of data governance tools and technologies.
  • Ability to assess and evaluate the effectiveness of current tools.
  • Strong decision-making skills to recommend whether to retain or replace tools.
  • Experience in successfully implementing new tools or enhancing existing ones.
  • Proactive approach to identifying and addressing tool-related issues.
  • Experience in evaluating and designing organizational structures.
  • Ability to align the organizational structure with data governance needs and business objectives.
  • Strong skills in developing and presenting proposals to senior leadership.
  • Ability to gain approval and lead the implementation of the proposed structure.
  • Experience in managing change and driving organizational improvements.
  • Expertise in defining and enforcing data quality standards and metrics.
  • Experience in conducting data quality assessments and audits.
  • Knowledge of data security and privacy regulations and ability to ensure compliance.
  • Ability to respond effectively to data breaches or security incidents.
  • Skills in training employees on data governance policies and best practices.


Work Environment:

This position will be part of our Denver office. Candidates located outside of the Denver Metro Area will be reviewed and considered if necessary.


We are a hybrid friendly company with office hubs located in Atlanta and Tampa, in addition to our new headquarters in downtown Denver. No matter where you live and work, you’re a part of the Actabl team. 


Compensation Package:

Qualified candidates can expect a salary range of $130,000 - $150,000 depending on experience.
