About the role - you will:

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented junior Data Scientist to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of data science principles and a passion for leveraging data to solve complex problems. As a junior Data Scientist, you will work closely with senior team members to analyze data, develop models, and generate actionable insights that drive business growth and innovation. 

About you:

• Assist in the collection, cleaning, and preprocessing of large datasets from various sources. 

• Develop and implement basic machine learning models and algorithms under the guidance of senior data scientists. 

• Conduct exploratory data analysis to identify trends, patterns, and anomalies. 

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to understand business requirements and translate them into data-driven solutions. 

• Create data visualizations and reports to communicate findings to both technical and non-technical stakeholders. 

• Stay up-to-date with the latest advancements in data science, machine learning, and related technologies. 

• Participate in team meetings, brainstorming sessions, and continuous learning activities. 

Your experience includes:

• Bachelor's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Statistics, or a related field. 

• 0-2 years of experience in data science, machine learning, or a related field (internships or academic projects are acceptable). 

• Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R. 

• Basic understanding of machine learning frameworks and libraries (e.g., scikit-learn, TensorFlow). 

• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work with large and complex datasets. 

• Excellent communication and presentation skills, with the ability to convey complex concepts to diverse audiences. 

• Experience with data visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Power BI) is a plus. 

• Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and manage multiple tasks simultaneously. 

Location:

The Shugart site (named after Seagate’s founder, Al Shugart) is a research and design center. Easily accessible from the One-North MRT Station, many employees choose to take mass transportation to work. Being a purpose-built building, The Shugart has excellent employee recreational facilities. Take an active break at our badminton courts, table tennis tables, in-house gym, and recreation rooms. Our yoga and Zumba classes are very popular. We also offer classes and interest groups in photography, gardening, and foreign languages, and have various on-site celebrations, and community volunteer opportunities.
