Behind the scenes, but ahead of the curve: help us develop the next-generation public broadcaster.

Created in 2015 to align, lighten and modernize infrastructure, the Technology & Infrastructure (T & I) team is the backbone and the future forward arm of CBC/Radio-Canada. We are the people that make stuff work. We make connections; between media content, systems, people and places. We are the space in between.

A place with purpose. CBC/Radio-Canada has always been a highly regarded pioneer of media technology. Not just in Canada, but around the world. Today, we’re transforming ourselves from conventional radio and television broadcaster into a modern digital media company. Technology is the driving force and we are the team making it happen.

This is a hybrid role with a mix of in-office and remote work. Work arrangements will be discussed with hiring managers per departmental guidelines.

The Opportunity

You will play a pivotal role in driving organizational success by leveraging your expertise in business analysis, process optimization, and data-driven decision-making. Your responsibilities will include conducting thorough business and data analysis, documenting requirements, mapping workflows, managing change requests, and bridging the gap between business needs and technology solutions within the Technology and Infrastructure (T&I) division. This role provides an exceptional opportunity to influence strategic decision-making through data insights and business analysis methodologies.

In close collaboration with other team members and extended partners, you will:

  • Conduct comprehensive analysis of business and technology needs, ensuring alignment with project objectives and stakeholder expectations.
  • Document and articulate detailed business and functional requirements, capturing key process improvements and automation opportunities.
  • Perform thorough data and workflow mapping, identifying critical touchpoints to ensure seamless integration and efficiency.
  • Support the design and implementation of business intelligence and analytics solutions using Enterprise Data Analytics Platform (EDAP) tools and methodologies.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between business stakeholders and technology teams to ensure solutions align with business goals.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including Business Analysts, Product Owners, and Infrastructure Specialists.
  • Engage in change management processes, proactively addressing requests to ensure smooth project execution.
  • Continuously assess and mitigate risks, proactively identifying obstacles and developing mitigation strategies.
  • Serve as an ambassador, sharing your knowledge and experience to foster a collaborative and high-performing team environment.
  • Lead quality assurance (QA) activities, define and execute test cases, and coordinate User Acceptance Testing (UAT) sessions, ensuring thorough testing and business validation.
  • Analyze and assess technical debt, process inefficiencies, and system deficiencies, ensuring continuous improvement and operational budget alignment.
  • Work with data teams to enhance reporting and business intelligence solutions, ensuring insights are actionable and align with business priorities.

Additionally, your role will involve coordinating activities with the team and keeping the responsible manager informed of any risks and issues encountered. Your attention to detail and problem-solving mindset will be essential as you effectively articulate business needs, challenges, and solutions. Strong communication skills will be crucial in interacting with various stakeholders, adapting technical language for technology teams and common terms for business partners.

This role offers the flexibility to be based in either Toronto or Montreal.

What do we have to offer?

By joining our team, you will have the opportunity to contribute to a highly collaborative environment where you will have full autonomy to drive business improvements through analysis and insights. You will work alongside skilled professionals, leveraging their expertise and creativity to make a lasting impact. Together, we will deliver exceptional data-driven solutions and business strategies that meet the evolving needs of our internal customers.

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • A Bachelor's Degree in Business Analysis, Information Systems, or a related field, or an equivalent qualification.
  • A minimum of five (5) years of experience in Business Analysis, focusing on data, systems, and process optimization.
  • Strong proficiency in requirements gathering, documentation, and business analysis methodologies.
  • Experience working in cloud-based environments (AWS, Azure, Synapse Analytics, Fabric, CoPilot).
  • Knowledge of data-driven decision-making and reporting using tools such as Power BI, SQL, or Python.
  • Familiarity with ETL processes and workflows (Informatica, Synapse Pipelines) and understanding of business intelligence platforms (Cognos Analytics, SSRS, Power BI, TM1/Planning Analytics).
  • Understanding of ERP & HCM solutions and their associated data models.
  • Strong written and verbal communication, stakeholder management, and customer satisfaction skills.
  • Ability to lead and manage multiple business initiatives simultaneously.
  • Sharp analytical skills and problem-solving mindset with a willingness to think outside the box to optimize business processes and technology alignment.
  • Adaptability, forward-thinking, and a proactive approach to continuous improvement.
  • Experience working in dynamic, collaborative environments and comfort with change management.
  • Certification in Business Analysis (CBAP, IIBA, PMI-PBA) is a valuable asset.
  • Bilingualism (French and English) is an asset.
  • Agile mindset and experience working in Kanban environments.

Candidates may be subject to skills and knowledge testing.

We thank all applicants for their interest, but only candidates selected for an interview will be contacted.
