Humana is seeking an experienced and innovative Lead Data Scientist to join our Experience Transformation team. The Experience Transformation team is an experience-oriented, multi-disciplinary team that solves for customer needs while enabling strategic and operational goals. In this role, you will lead the development and deployment of advanced machine learning and analytics solutions to improve plan shopping experiences, optimize recommendations, and enhance decision-making processes for our customers.
Key Responsibilities:
Thought Leadership: Provide thought leadership on identifying data science opportunities and solutions by understanding our customer and business needs
Model Development: Design, implement, and deploy advanced machine learning models, such as personalization algorithms, recommendation engines, and optimization tools.
Data Strategy: Define data-driven strategies to enhance digital shopping experiences by leveraging various data sources, such as behavioral, transactional, and demographic data
Model production: Collaborate with various engineering team to productionize the end-to-end data science solutions. Ensure the scalability, robustness, and performance in a production environment.
Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including product managers, UX designers, content strategists, and engineering teams to align and productionize data science efforts with business objectives and product goals.
Continuous Improvement: Stay updated with the latest trends and advancements in data science, machine learning, and AI to maintain a competitive edge.
Insights Generation: Perform data analysis and generate actionable insights to enhance shopping experiences.

Required Qualifications
Master’s degree in data science, Computer Science, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering or a related quantitative field
3 or more years of experience leading large, complex data science projects and developing creative technical solutions.
Ability to work under minimal supervision using independent judgment
5 or more years of experience in leveraging a high volume of structured and unstructured data to develop tactical and strategic insights
In-depth knowledge of machine learning techniques such as regression, trees, ensemble models, neural networks, deep learning, and clustering
Proficiency in Python, Pyspark or similar programming languages
Experience with machine learning frameworks (e.g., TensorFlow, PyTorch, Scikit-learn)
Experience with building end-to-end modeling pipeline using PySpark
Strong understanding of data pipelines, ETL processes, and cloud platforms (e.g., Azure, GCP, AWS)
Excellent oral and written communication and stakeholder management skills
Experience interpreting and communicating results of complex analyses to technical and non-technical business partners and executive decision makers
Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities
Experience working in agile environments
Preferred Qualifications:
Experience in digital shopping, e-commerce, or customer experience optimization
Experience with recommendation system
Experience in Natural Language Processing (NLP) and LLM
Experience in test & learn, and/or experiment design
Knowledge with Medicare plans
Work-At-Home Information
To ensure Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees’ ability to work effectively, the self-provided internet service of Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees must meet the following criteria:
At minimum, a download speed of 25 Mbps and an upload speed of 10 Mbps is required; wireless, wired cable or DSL connection is suggested.
Satellite, cellular and microwave connection can be used only if approved by leadership.
Employees who live and work from Home in the state of California, Illinois, Montana, or South Dakota will be provided a bi-weekly payment for their internet expense.
Humana will provide Home or Hybrid Home/Office employees with telephone equipment appropriate to meet the business requirements for their position/job.
Work from a dedicated space lacking ongoing interruptions to protect member PHI / HIPAA information.

The compensation range below reflects a good faith estimate of starting base pay for full time (40 hours per week) employment at the time of posting. The pay range may be higher or lower based on geographic location and individual pay will vary based on demonstrated job related skills, knowledge, experience, education, certifications, etc.
