We are looking a Sr Manager, Business Analytics to build and accelerate our analytical capabilities for pet insurance, offering the unique opportunity to deliver foundational business impact using personalized customer and market insights to scale our long-term strategy. This role will build frameworks and produce insights that identify, segment and route qualified prospective customers to our insurance offerings, while driving efficient customer acquisition and improving understanding of the customer lifecycle. In addition, you will own ad-hoc analysis required to tackle problems for a growing business in an up-and-coming category! What you’ll do:

  • Develop and implement analytics strategy for Chewy pet insurance business to drive actions to identify and segment high quality customers, increasing sales and retention using scientifically based methods and decision making.
  • Provide insights and decision-making frameworks to drive acquisition (customer segmentation, price/coverage optimization, portfolio analytics, bundling behaviors, etc.), development of product features, and customer lifecycle management (claims behavior, cancelations).
  • Support the business in building capabilities to analyze pricing vs. competitors
  • Lead the full cycle of analytical deliverables - ideation, data mining and analysis, insights, and recommendations to stakeholders. Lead process with minimal direction. 
  • Use technical expertise to conceptualize and develop new, reusable tools, models, and approaches to provide our partners with insights and recommendations to meet business goals.
  • Serve as the subject matter expert on pet insurance data modeling, system architecture, data governance, and business intelligence tools.
  • This is role requires hands-on use of analytical and data-mining tools, and effective presentation skills to influence the client and internal decision makers
  • Build scalable, efficient, and automated data processes to facilitate customer-facing reporting

What you'll need:

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree, or foreign equivalent, in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, Statistics, Business Analytics or a related field followed by 5+ years of progressively responsible experience
  • Master’s degree in Business Analytics, Data Science or related field

Business/company stage:

  • 5+ years insurance, finance or ecommerce industry experience
  • Experience building analytics function from the ground-up to support a business through hyper-growth <$100K to $10M+
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and presentation skills
  • Willingness to roll up your sleeves to get the job done

Technical skills

  • Experience executing large scale projects end-to-end, including demonstrated success leading cross-functional teams through highly complex, ambiguous situations and presenting clear, actionable insights that accelerate time to market
  • 5 years of experience with data scripting languages (e.g SQL, Python, R etc.) or statistical/mathematical software (e.g. R, SAS, or Matlab).
  • 5 years of experience with quantitative analysis

The specific salary offered to a candidate may be influenced by a variety of factors including but not limited to the candidate’s relevant experience, education, and work location. In addition, this position is eligible for 401k and a new hire and annual equity grant.   We offer different types of insurance, such as medical/Rx, vision, dental, life, disability, hospital indemnity, critical illness, and accident. Pay Range$129,500—$207,000 USD
