Job description

Atlantic Quantum is seeking a research scientist for theoretical modeling of our quantum processors. You will be working closely with our calibration and design teams. Your tasks will include:

  • Developing gate and readout schemes alongside measurement engineers.

  • Explaining experimental data with numerical simulations of superconducting circuit properties and dynamics.

  • Translating experimental findings into new design requirements for future processors.

Atlantic Quantum believes that fault-tolerant quantum hardware is the key to making progress in quantum computing. We take on this uniquely tough challenge with a team of deep experts in the field, anchored in Cambridge and Gothenburg to reflect our MIT and Chalmers roots. Our combined US and EU presence helps attract talent, investments, and partnerships to accelerate the development and commercialization of scalable quantum computing. We offer flexible work in a fast-moving start-up environment, with strong ties to world-class academic research.

Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Physics, Electrical engineering, or a related engineering discipline, with coursework in quantum mechanics.

  • Research or work experience in quantum optics (experimental or theoretical), including but not limited to superconducting qubits and atomic physics. Alternatively, significant coursework in quantum optics.

  • Proficiency in Python or a similar high-level programming language.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Significant coursework or work experience in programming.

  • Experience developing scalable, multi-user software.

  • PhD with research experience in quantum optics (experimental or theoretical), including but not limited to superconducting qubits and atomic physics.

  • Research experience explaining experimental data with numerical simulations.

  • Experience with numerical modeling of quantum systems, e.g. QuTiP.
