Operations Business Data Analyst

The Role:

Working closely with all disciplines, the Business Data Analyst is responsible for processing analytics requests as well as identifying opportunities to help provide visibility that in turn will allow MDA to make better data driven decisions.

Understanding business systems and processes will help identify data ingestion needs and visual representation possibilities.

Under the corporate analytics guidelines, the Data Analyst will create dashboards using the provided analytics pipeline and visualization tools.

Job Responsibilities:

• As a team, act as a single point of contact for all Analytics needs
• Review and process incoming analytics and dashboard requests
• Provide guidance and recommendations on the desired outcome (data and visuals)
• Create a sample dashboard using exports (flat files) from various data sources
• Obtain required approvals and user acceptance
• Respect regulatory compliance requirements prior to the data ingestion
• Work with the IT Department to perform the data ingestion into the data lake
• Update dashboards to point to the data lake prior to publishing
• Support and maintain published dashboards

Job Requrements:

• Bachelor’s degree in Business, IT or related field
• 3-5 or more years experience in a similar role or that matches the experience requirements
• Excellent organizational skills
• Excellent prioritization and time management skills
• Problem solving
• Effective oral and written communication skills
• Experience working with structured and unstructured data
• Experience designing or creating visuals using Power BI
• Experience with statistical analysis
• Understanding of data handling, modeling and reporting
• Experience with various enterprise systems such as ERP, MES, PLM, etc. that use SQL and other types of databases
• Understanding of ETL concepts

Assets:

• Data ingestion experience
• Data engineering experience
• Project coordination or management
• Basic programming knowledge
• Understanding of APIs
• Experience in Manufacturing and Engineering

Special Considerations: 

Successful candidates must obtain and hold security clearance at the Reliability status level, and pass security assessment for the Controlled Goods Program (CGP), and be able to obtain higher clearances.

The compensation range for this position is $75,000 - $95,000 annually. The specific compensation offered will be based on the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate.
