Role Purpose:

The Data Engineer role focuses on creating analytics for our home product portfolio, serving millions of homes across Europe. As a key member of our data team, you will be responsible for implementing reporting pipelines and integrating them with cross-product analytics to inform strategic decision-making processes. The role offers an exciting opportunity to work with large and complex datasets, develop innovative analytics solutions using industry best analytics services and practices and contribute to the success of our products in the market.
As the candidate gains knowledge and experience, the position will evolve into an end-to-end analytics architect role, where you will play a pivotal role in designing and implementing comprehensive analytics solutions across the organization.

Key accountabilities and decision ownership:

1. Design and implement cloud-based reporting pipelines leveraging AWS and GCP services, ensuring scalable, efficient, and cost-effective data processing and analytics solutions.
2. Develop and maintain robust ETL/ELT workflows to ingest, transform, and optimize structured and unstructured data, enabling seamless integration with analytics and BI platforms.
3. Ensure data quality and reliability by implementing automated testing frameworks, data validation processes, and monitoring systems to proactively identify and resolve data inconsistencies.
4. Optimize data storage and query performance in cloud-based data warehouses (e.g., BigQuery, Redshift, Snowflake) to enhance analytical efficiency and reduce processing costs.
5. Collaborate with data analysts and business stakeholders to define and implement data models, reporting structures, and scalable solutions that bridge engineering with business intelligence needs.
 

Core competencies, knowledge and experience:

  • Mastery of SQL, with a proven track record of utilizing advanced features and optimizations, coupled with hands- on experience in GCP BigQuery, enabling efficient data querying and manipulation.
  • Robust expertise in a wide range of data-related technologies, encompassing sophisticated data analytics techniques, comprehensive data warehousing strategies, and cutting-edge business intelligence solutions, ensuring a comprehensive understanding of the data landscape.
  • Proficiency in crafting insightful reports and intuitive dashboards tailored to diverse business needs, showcasing the ability to distill complex data into actionable insights that drive strategic decision-making.
  • Adept at identifying and resolving database and data process issues through systematic troubleshooting methodologies, ensuring data integrity and operational continuity across various systems and processes.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in leveraging data visualization tools, particularly Tableau, to create compelling and impactful visual representations of data, enhancing communication and understanding of key insights among stakeholders.
     

Must have technical / professional qualifications:

  1. Bachelor's degree in a quantitative subject (e.g., computer science, mathematics, engineering) 1 year professional work experience
  2. 4+ years' experience as a Data Analyst or Engineer
