We are looking to hire a Vice President - Data Strategy, Governance & Enterprise Data Services to join our corporate IT team. This position will ideally be based at McCormick's global HQ's in Hunt Valley, MD although other locations will be considered on a case-by-case basis. The position is eligible to participate in McCormick's hybrid work program (50% onsite, 50% remote per month).

POSITION OVERVIEW:
The role of the Vice President - Data Strategy, Governance & Enterprise Data Services is pivotal in the company’s journey towards becoming a more data-driven, algorithm enabled organization. This position encompasses three primary responsibilities: Establishing the corporate data strategy, leading the enterprise data management and governance efforts and managing the technology team responsible for provisioning data in the Azure Data Analytics platform and the Google Cloud platform.
1. Data Strategy - As the data strategy leader, the Chief Data & Analytics Officer will establish a data strategy anchored on priorities of McCormick’s strategic plan. The data strategy will be informed by inputs from regional and function la leaders and will help McCormick operate with data as a strategic asset.
2. Data Management & Governance Leader - As the data management and governance leader, the Chief Data & Analytics Officer will establish and oversee McCormick’s enterprise data management and governance framework. This is a new and critical initiative for McCormick, aimed at creating a structured approach to managing the company's data as a strategic asset. The role includes, but is not limited to:
- Lead Data & AI Governance Council and Executive Committee
- Defining and implementing data management governance policies, standards, and processes.
- Ensuring data quality, timeliness, discoverability, and consistency across the organization.
3. Enterprise Data Services Management - The third responsibility involves managing the technology team responsible for data provisioning on the Azure Data Analytics platform and the Google Cloud platform. The Data Analytics Officer will ensure that the technology infrastructure supports the company’s strategic goals. Responsibilities in this area include:
- Overseeing the development and maintenance of technology and data architecture – Data Lake, Data Pipes, Data Catalog, AI Factory
- Ensuring seamless data integration and accessibility for analytics and business intelligence purposes.
- Leading the implementation of appropriate data technologies to enhance data processing and analysis and artificial intelligence capabilities.
- Managing technology projects and ensuring they are delivered on time and within budget.
- Collaborating with functions and security to ensure data security and governance requirements are met.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Data Strategy & Governance – Oversees data strategy and prioritizes enhancing analytics capabilities enterprise-wide. Defines how we capture, maintain, and use data to support business goals. Sets up data governance across key functions to enable digital transformation that meets objectives and delivers results. Leads data governance initiatives for enterprise digital transformation, ensuring data policies, practices, initiatives, and compliance.
- Implementing enterprise data services, including AI/ML - Leading programs to ensure cohesive data analysis solutions that add value across the business. Providing direction for evaluating and developing functional capabilities in the data and analytics platforms. Identifying new uses for data sources to gain a competitive edge and planning and overseeing investments required for these initiatives. Managing and developing an in-house team of architects and data engineers and 3rd party consultants to meet business demand.
- Data strategy, change management and ongoing innovation – Defining the vision and direction for collection, management and storage of data to achieve the business goals. Enhance enterprise analytics capabilities by promoting change and cultivating a data-centric culture within the organization. Consistently demonstrate how data and analytics have contributed to the company's growth and operational efficiency.
- Talent acquisition & development – identify skills needed for now and future, provide education and support to develop skills across organization and retention approach for key talent in the data and analytics areas of the organization.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Data Science, Data Engineering or related business topic with at least 15 years of experience leading business enterprise data strategy involving transforming data-driven culture, and driving Enterprise Data Models. Leading data governance initiatives across multiple functions and geographies. Established data analytic professional who has led enterprise data analytic transformations.
- In lieu of a degree in related professional area, at least 19 years minimum of business or professional experience as listed above
- Previous experience in defining and driving AI/ML initiatives to support an enterprise digital transformation and its related governance model.
- 8-10 years of experience in developing and enhancing data driven strategy including establishing governance approach, monitoring outcomes and improving use of data and analytics to deliver business value to existing and new business models.
- Proven experience forming, leading, developing and coaching direct and cross functional high performing teams to deliver short and long-term strategies, grow industry /process /business skills and build a robust talent pipeline.
- Experience in formation of multi-million dollar operating and capital budgets. Ability to perform reviews of financial analysis and understand implications to broader McCormick business outcomes.
- Experience working in global, multicultural environments which require cultural awareness in addition to having previous experience in a matrixed Data Content delivery model.
- Proven business experience global program management.
- Experience negotiating large vendor engagements and contracts for products and service management
Base Salary: $200,280-360,470
Base salary compensation will be determined based on factors such as geographic location, skills, education, experience for this role, and/or internal equity of our current employees as part of any final offer. This position is also eligible to participate in McCormick’s Incentive Bonus (MIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Sales Incentive Bonus (SIB) Plan/ McCormick’s Dividend Program.
