Position Summary

As a Sr. Clinical Data Scientist, you will play a key role in identifying, analyzing and interpreting real-world data (RWD) to generate valuable insights and support evidence-based decision making.
The incumbent will develop state-of-the-art solutions using advanced statistical and clinical data science techniques, generate Real World Evidence (RWE) by analyzing large or high-dimensional data in clinical studies, applying advanced statistics and machine learning, conducting post-hoc analyses, reusing historical data and performing meta-analysis and systematic reviews to inform evidence-based decision-making. 
The Senior Clinical Data Scientist will leverage RWD to analyze health datasets collected from digital health tools through real-world or clinical study settings. This role’s contribution will be pivotal in shaping Teleflex’s strategy to deliver results, where you can make a difference through your technical and collaboration skills. 
 

Principal Responsibilities

•    Identify and define analytical problems related to RWE, leveraging domain knowledge and data science techniques to develop scalable, data-driven solutions.
•    Design and implement advanced data mining, statistical modeling, and machine learning techniques to analyze complex and heterogeneous RWD datasets.
•    Engineer robust and efficient preprocessing pipelines for cleaning, transforming, and integrating large-scale real-world datasets, ensuring data quality, consistency, and integrity.
•    Utilize high-performance computing strategies to optimize the processing and analysis of large datasets, enabling rapid iteration and scalable insights.
•    Apply machine learning and deep learning algorithms to discover patterns, assess risks, and provide predictive insights, with a focus on accuracy, interpretability, and performance.
•    Develop predictive models for outcome forecasting, trend analysis, and scenario planning, ensuring alignment with healthcare regulatory and ethical standards.
•    Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including clinical, regulatory, and technical stakeholders, to translate complex analyses into actionable business strategies and decisions.
•    Employ state-of-the-art data visualization techniques and storytelling frameworks to effectively communicate insights to both technical and non-technical audiences.
•    Contribute to the development of innovative, data-driven products and solutions for the healthcare industry, incorporating best practices in model deployment and performance monitoring.
•    Stay abreast of emerging research, advancements, and tools in data science, high performance computing, and RWE analytics, continuously enhancing the organization's analytical capabilities.

Education / Experience Requirements

•    Master's degree in data science, computer science, statistics, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.
•    Minimum of 5-7 years of experience as a Clinical Data Scientist/Senior Clinical Data Scientist or equivalent, preferably with a focus on RWE and the healthcare industry.
•    Strong knowledge of data mining, statistical modeling, and machine learning algorithms.
•    Proficiency in programming languages such as Python or R for data manipulation and analysis.
•    Experience with longitudinal analysis and non-independent data
•    Experience analyzing patient outcomes using electronic medical records, chargemaster data, and other real-world data sources
•    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to find insights in complex datasets.
•    Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
•    Experience with healthcare data and familiarity with health economics and healthcare data standards is a plus.
•    Understanding of regulatory requirements and ethics related to data analysis in healthcare.
 

Specialized Skills / Other Requirements

•    Eager to bring innovation in clinical research, Real-World Data/ Real-World Evidence (RWD/RWE), validation of digital tool data.
•    A thorough experience in advanced statistical and machine learning methods in the health domain
•    Strong organizational, communication, and documentation skills, proven ability to review and coordinate the collection of data and related documentation for research studies. 
•    Ability to make independent decisions and take responsibility for own actions within a fast-moving environment.
•    Understanding of business process improvement and the tools and data requirements for supporting an effective business process improvement practice.
•    Ability to collaborate effectively and participate in a team environment.
•    Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and report on findings.
•    Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including presentation skills
 

The pay range for this position at commencement of employment is expected to be between $157,000 - 188,600 however, base pay offered may vary depending on multiple individualized factors, including market location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.  The total compensation package for this position will also include benefits such as medical, prescription drug, dental and vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, participation in 401(k) savings plan, and various paid time off benefits, such as PTO, short- and long-term disability and parental leave, dependent on the position offered. Details of participation in these benefit plans will be provided if an employee receives an offer of employment.
 
If hired, employee will be in an “at-will position” and the Company reserves the right to modify base salary (as well as any other discretionary payment or compensation program) at any time, including for reasons related to individual performance, Company or individual department/team performance, and market factors.
