Job Description Summary

We're on the lookout for a talented Data Scientist to join our FNB Connect Pricing and Portfolio team to shape the future of Device pricing! Go and have a peek on the FNB APP under “Connect” to browse for all our devices we have on offer over term and once-off!

Are you someone who:

  • Enjoys data analytics within Pricing
  • Has knowledge of/or experience in Quantitative analysis and Model building.
  • Has relevant experience with data preparation for analysis such as: data collection, data cleaning and data manipulation.
  • Is a self-starter with the ability of finding new ways of solving problems.
  • Can run with analytical projects from the identification of the business problem up to implementation.
  • Enjoys stakeholder management with the ability to communicate complex concepts to non- technical stakeholders.
  • Able to plan, build, optimise and implement innovative quantitative analytical methodologies, procedures, products, and advanced mathematical models that provide analytical support and interpret insights, to address business opportunities and problems and implement business strategy, with minimal guidance.
  • Participate in building of statistical models and data analysis to inform decision making and address business needs.
  • Contribute to innovation by finding faster and more accurate ways of working.
  • Contribute to teamwork and inclusivity within the team.
  • Report on transactional and process activities within set guidelines to provide timely information for decision making
  • Intermediate to advanced coding skills in SQL & SAS
  • Competent to work with Microsoft tools (Word, Excel & PowerPoint).

You will be an ideal candidate if you:

  • Minimum Qualification: B Degree in Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, Actuarial Science
  • Preferred Qualification – Honours Degree in Mathematical Sciences, Statistics, Actuarial Science
  • Experience: A minimum of 3 - 5 years' relevant data science or quantitative analysis experience within a similar environment.
  • Prior experience within a Credit Risk or Lending capability as well as in the pricing environment will be advantageous
  • Has relevant experience with data preparation for analysis such as: data collection, data cleaning and data manipulation.
  • Has knowledge of/or experience in Quantitative analysis and Model building.
  • Intermediate to advanced SAS and Excel skills.

You will have access to:

  • The opportunity to engage with different teams with the business unit which gives you a holistic view of the different components of the business (product, finance, operations, BI, Sales)
  • Get an understanding of the income statement and the underlying levers of profitability
  • Continuously review and proactively optimize the device pricing model to ensure we price positively. Improving the model construct and building in new product features as required.
