Job DescriptionThe Senior Business Analyst, People Analytics and Institutional Research serves as a strategic advisor and subject matter expert in leveraging data to unlock insights and drive meaningful decisions. This role supports both HR and institutional objectives by analyzing data across employee and student experiences, synthesizing survey and assessment results, and developing actionable strategies to enhance engagement, retention, and organizational outcomes. The incumbent designs tools and models to gather, analyze, and report on data throughout the life cycle of employees and students, ensuring alignment with strategic goals and fostering a culture of data-driven decision-making. This position requires a high level of collaboration across functional areas of the college.

The salary range for this position is $75,643.83 - $86,990.40

The final salary offer will be determined based on the candidate's qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions

Strategic Collaboration:

  • Partner with HR leadership to align employee experience analytics with workforce planning, development, and retention strategies.

  • Partner with Institutional Research leadership to integrate student experience insights into academic and operational strategies, including retention, success, and workforce readiness.

  • Maintain strong business relationships with key stakeholders across the college, with emphasis on high transparency of data results and business insights.

Effective Communication:

  • Translate data results into actionable, business-minded recommendations to enhance employee satisfaction, student engagement, and overall organizational performance.

Experience Lifecycle Analytics:

  • Collect and analyze data at critical stages of the employee and student life cycle (e.g., onboarding, development, engagement, transitions, and departures).

  • Design and administer surveys, assessments, and feedback mechanisms using tools like Qualtrics to capture meaningful insights from employees and students.

Advanced Analytics and Modeling:

  • Utilize statistical and machine learning models to identify trends, predict outcomes, and provide recommendations for HR and institutional improvement.

  • Perform hypothesis testing and root cause analyses to address challenges such as attrition, engagement gaps, and program effectiveness.

Data Visualization and Reporting:

  • Create compelling dashboards and reports using tools like Tableau, Power BI, and Workday analytics, alongside Qualtrics reporting features, to communicate insights effectively to leadership.

  • Develop reporting frameworks that integrate employee and student data to identify shared opportunities for organizational growth.

Feedback and Program Evaluation:

  • Design and conduct experiments to test the effectiveness of HR and institutional initiatives, leveraging employee and student feedback to iterate and improve.

  • Evaluate program outcomes, identifying strengths and areas for improvement to support continuous improvement across the organization.

Data Quality and Governance:

  • Ensure accuracy, security, and compliance of all employee and student data in alignment with organizational, state, and federal standards.

  • Advocate for and implement best practices in data governance and ethical use of analytics.

Continuous Improvement:

  • Stay current with advancements in data science, feedback methodologies, AI/ML, and best practices in people and institutional research.

  • Drive data literacy across the organization, enabling stakeholders to use insights effectively in decision-making.

Additional Duties: Perform other tasks as required to support organizational goals and strategic initiatives. Other duties as assigned by the Director of Applied Research.

Education/Experience/Knowledge/Skills

Education and Experience:

  • Master’s degree in Institutional Research, Business Analytics, Higher Education Administration, or related field in social or data sciences.

  • Equivalent relevant experience, training, certifications, and expertise in analytics or research will be considered.

  • Extensive experience in analyzing data from employee and student surveys, assessments, and feedback tools, particularly Qualtrics.

  • Demonstrated success in developing insights that improve engagement, retention, and performance.

Technical Expertise:

  • Proficiency in Qualtrics, Tableau, Power BI, Workday analytics, and other relevant platforms to collect, analyze, and visualize data.

  • Experience with analytics programming languages such as Python or R.

  • Expertise in statistical and machine learning techniques for predictive modeling and analysis.

Key Skills:

  • Strong research acumen with the ability to integrate HR and institutional data to provide strategic insights.

  • Exceptional communication and collaboration skills to align diverse stakeholders.

  • Demonstrated ability to successfully lead cross-functional teams.

  • Advanced problem-solving and critical-thinking abilities.

  • Familiarity with data privacy, FERPA, and compliance requirements.

Please Note: This is a hybrid position that requires travel to one of our TSTC locations, with a preference for Waco and Harlingen
