We have an exciting new job opportunity in our R&D IT department at our locations in the Technology Centers Prague, Czech Republic or Hyderabad, India and are looking to hire a skilled Frontend Developer with expertise in Shiny (R, python) or similar technologies to join our dynamic team. The ideal candidate will be responsible for designing and implementing user-friendly web applications that facilitate data visualization and analysis. You will collaborate closely with data scientists, researchers, and other stakeholders to create innovative solutions that enhance user experience and drive engagement.

You will be responsible for developing user-friendly, interactive web interfaces for our bioinformatics and cheminformatics product lines. You will be working closely with our stakeholders, scientists in the R&D pharmaceutical and biological laboratories together with bioinformaticians and cheminformaticians in an interdisciplinary IT development team to create innovative solutions that enhance scientific research.

Responsibilities

• Develop, test, and deploy interactive web applications using R-Shiny, python and other relevant front-end technologies

• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather requirements and translate them into functional and appealing interfaces

• Create responsive designs that ensure optimal user experience across various devices and browsers

• Implement data visualization techniques to present complex datasets in an intuitive format

• Develop and implement automated and manual tests to ensure application reliability, performance, and functionality

• Maintain, optimize and improve existing applications to enhance performance and user experience

• Troubleshoot and debug applications, ensuring high-quality standards and adherence to best coding practices

• Stay updated with the latest industry trends and technologies to continuously enhance skills and application functionalities

Requirements

• Minimum bachelor’s degree in computer science or a related STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) field

• Proven experience as a frontend developer, preferably with expertise in R-Shiny or similar frameworks

• Strong proficiency in HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and R programming language

• Hands-on experience with data visualization libraries (e.g., ggplot2, plotly) and frameworks to create interactive visualizations

• Familiarity with version control systems (e.g., git) and agile methodologies

• Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail

• Strong communication and teamwork abilities

• Excellent debugging skills, with an analytical approach to complex technical challenges

• Prior experience in a research or scientific setting is a plus

• Fluent in English; excellent verbal and written communication skills

• Experience working in bioinformatics, cheminformatics, or scientific research environments

• Experience with deployment on Posit Connect platform

• Knowledge in one or more of the following areas: biology, chemistry, statistical analysis or machine learning

• Knowledge of backend development and API integration
