The Analytics and Medical Imaging (AMI) team develops advanced imaging applications using complex datasets and external technologies. The team utilizes advanced analytics to generate insights from large-scale data, with the goal of accelerating R&D and improving patient outcomes. The group creates innovative tools for faster and more accurate disease detection, characterization, and monitoring across various therapeutic areas using image analytics and data on modern platforms. Their aim is to enhance the drug development process by automating reviews, developing robust endpoints, improving diagnostic tools, creating automated assessments for real-world data, and assisting clinicians in selecting optimal therapies. 

 

In this position, You will: 

  • Contribute to the development of machine learning and/or computer vision algorithms applied to video colonoscopy 

  • Work on algorithm development and validation tasks, with an emphasis on image segmentation techniques, for disease assessment

  • Develop and apply AI/CV methods for enhanced segmentation accuracy and robustness through the integration of cutting-edge deep learning techniques

  • Continually search for opportunities to automate workflows and streamline processes 

  • Proactively share learnings and knowledge to both technical and non-technical audiences.

 

Who you are: 

  • Creative problem solver, quick learner and comfortable experimenting with new approaches

  • Demonstrate high productivity and enjoy dealing with ambiguity and applying novel methodologies

  • Possess entrepreneurship, passion and curiosity for understanding and interrogating complex data.

 

Furthermore, you have/ are: 

  • Strong programming skills in Python, hands-on experience of Deep Learning frameworks (PyTorch)

  • Experience with medical imaging data format, image and video processing 

  • Understanding of end-to-end ML/DL/AI project management steps like data engineering, computing/storage resource budgeting, model training, model selection and model evaluation 

  • Familiarity with cloud/scientific computing environments (AWS, HPC)  is a plus

  • Strong communication and collaboration skills

  • Experience implementing reproducible research practices like version control (e.g. using Git) and literate programming

Information about application documents and start date:

Candidates must be currently enrolled at university in Master or PhD studies, or have graduated with a Master’s degree within 12 months before the start of the internship in an applied quantitative discipline such as Computer Science, Electronic Engineering, Bioengineering, Statistics, Mathematics. PhD students must be enrolled for the entire duration of the internship.

Please note that due to regulations, non-EU/EFTA citizens have to provide a certificate from the university stating that an industry internship is mandatory as part of the university training.
