About the job:

One of our top clients (United Nations) is looking for a Data Engineer to join their Data & Analytics team, delivering cutting-edge data solutions. The selected candidate will work closely with Data Architects, BI Engineers, DevOps/DataOps specialists, and Data Scientists, contributing to data infrastructure, pipelines, and cloud solutions.

💻 100% Remote | 📆 6-Month FREELANCE Contract (with possible extensions) | 🌎 Latin America (EST time zone)

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement data solutions based on project requirements, primarily using Microsoft Azure but also working with AWS and Google Cloud when needed.
• Develop and optimize ELT/ETL pipelines using Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, DataBricks, PySpark, SQL Server stored procedures, and SSIS.
• Manage and enhance Data Lakes and Delta Lakes.
• Improve system performance, conduct tests, and troubleshoot data-related issues.
• Design, implement, and maintain CI/CD pipelines using Azure DevOps.
• Perform data migrations from legacy systems to new platforms.

What we are looking for:

• 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer.
• Expertise in Microsoft Azure data services (Azure Data Factory, Logic Apps, Databricks, Synapse, Azure Functions, Azure DevOps).
• Strong experience in SQL Server, T-SQL, PySpark, Spark SQL, and Python.
• Proven ability to build data ingestion pipelines and transform complex datasets (JSON, XML, Excel, CSV).
• Proficiency in PowerShell, Bash, and Python scripting.
• Experience in Microsoft BI stack (SSIS, SSRS, SSAS).
• Ability to work in a fast-paced, highly collaborative environment, handling multiple projects simultaneously.
• Strong problem-solving skills and team-oriented mindset.

Nice to have:

• Familiarity with AWS and Google Cloud data services.
• Experience in project management methodologies (Agile, Scrum, PRINCE2, PMP).
• Knowledge in AI/ML, business intelligence, and advanced analytics.
• Strong technical documentation and training skills.

Certifications (Preferred but not mandatory):

• Azure Data Engineer Associate (DP-203)
• DP-500 (Designing & Implementing Enterprise-Scale Analytics Solutions)
• Certifications in AWS, Google Cloud, or Data Management
