Data Engineer (Senior)

What you will be doing:

• Collaborate with stakeholders to analyse business requirements and interpret data to propose effective solutions.
  
• Design, develop, test and maintain robust data layers, architectures, and efficient data integration pipelines (ETL) for Big Data analytics.
  
• Ensure necessary infrastructure for optimal ETL processes and manage GCP costs.
  
• Create and maintain technical documentation, and log change requests.
  
• Analyze specifications and data to design data warehouse and product layers.
  
• Participate in peer reviews, adhere to SDLC processes, and provide cross-training and mentorship to team members.
  
• Provide regular status updates and proactively drive ticket progress to ensure timely resolution.
  
• Participate in standby rotation and fulfill IT responsibilities as needed.
  
• Foster a positive and collaborative team environment.
  
• Support existing solutions within GCP and Oracle environments.
  

What our client is looking for:

• A relevant degree would be beneficial (Computer Science, IT, Engineering, etc.)
  
• 4 - 6 years experience in data warehouse ETL
  
• Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their data services
  
• Proficiency in SQL and experience with relational databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server)
  
• Experience with dimensional modeling and data analysis
  
• Understanding of version control (SVN/GIT) and proficiency in Python, Java, Korn shell scripting, and SQL
  
• Broad understanding of different SDLCs and exposure to Agile methodologies
  
• Experience with data visualization tools and the retail industry
  
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking
  
• Detail-oriented with excellent communication
  
• Curiosity and interest in analysing problems and solutions
