Job Description
We are seeking an experienced Data Architect Consultant to provide expert guidance in designing and implementing scalable, secure, and commerce-driven data architectures for our clients. In this role, you will work with organizations across retail, e-commerce, and enterprise sectors to assess their data needs, define best practices, and lead product and transaction-driven data transformation initiatives.
The ideal candidate will have deep technical expertise in data architecture, modeling, governance, and security, along with experience in commerce-related data solutions, including Product Information Management (PIM), Business Intelligence (BI), and analytics on product attributes, orders, transactions, and customer data. Additionally, experience with row-level and column-level security, data masking, and access control strategies will be crucial in ensuring data integrity and privacy. You will collaborate closely with client stakeholders, data engineers, and analysts to deliver tailored solutions that enhance product data management, sales insights, and supply chain analytics.
Responsibilities
Top 5 Responsibilities:
- Design and implement scalable and secure data architectures using cloud and hybrid technologies (AWS, Azure, Google Cloud, on-premise).
- Develop and optimize data models for commerce-related datasets, including product catalogs, SKUs, pricing structures, and order management systems (OMS).
- Lead the architecture and governance of Product Information Management (PIM) systems, ensuring structured product attributes, taxonomy, and metadata alignment.
- Establish and enforce data security frameworks, including role-based access control (RBAC), row-level security (RLS), and column-level security (CLS) for commerce and customer data.
- Build and manage data pipelines and ETL/ELT processes to integrate multi-source product, inventory, and transactional data across e-commerce platforms, ERP, CRM, and analytics tools.
Additional Responsibilities:
- Implement data governance, master data management (MDM), and cataloging for PIM and commerce analytics solutions.
- Provide real-time and batch data analytics to support BI dashboards, sales performance tracking, inventory forecasting, and personalized customer insights.
- Optimize customer order data storage and transaction processing architectures for scalability and compliance.
- Implement data masking, encryption, and anonymization techniques to protect sensitive customer and transaction data while ensuring GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, and SOC 2 compliance.
- Conduct technical assessments, proof of concepts (POCs), and architecture reviews to drive innovation and efficiency.
- Provide client training, documentation, and advisory support on commerce-related data solutions, secure data management, and analytics strategies.
Qualifications
Top 5 Qualifications:
- Strong experience in data architecture, data modeling, and database management (SQL, NoSQL, Graph databases).
- Hands-on expertise with cloud data platforms (AWS Redshift, Snowflake, Google BigQuery, Azure Synapse).
- Proficiency in ETL/ELT tools and data integration (dbt, Apache Airflow, Informatica, Talend, Fivetran).
- Deep understanding of data security, row-level and column-level security (RLS, CLS), access controls, and compliance frameworks.
- Experience architecting solutions for Product Information Management (PIM), Master Data Management (MDM), ERP, CRM, and Order Management Systems (OMS).
Additional Qualifications:
- Experience with big data and streaming technologies (Hadoop, Spark, Kafka).
- Knowledge of BI and analytics tools (Power BI, Tableau, Looker, Google Analytics, Adobe Analytics) for commerce and sales insights.
- Experience working with AI/ML data pipelines for predictive commerce analytics is a plus.
- Strong communication and stakeholder management skills to influence decision-making.
- Hands-on knowledge of role-based access control (RBAC), dynamic data masking (DDM), encryption, and compliance frameworks (GDPR, CCPA, HIPAA, PCI-DSS).
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- 7+ years of experience in data architecture, data engineering, or data security consulting.
- Prior experience in a consulting firm, technology advisory, or as an independent consultant is preferred.
- Relevant cloud and data security certifications (AWS Certified Data Analytics, Google Professional Data Engineer, Snowflake Data Architect, CISSP, CISM) are a plus.
