Job Description

We are accepting applications for an Epic Business Intelligence Developer (Software Development Specialist 3)

What you'll do at OhioMHAS:

As an Epic Business Intelligence Developer supporting the Epic Clinical Systems at OhioMHAS, many opportunities are offered to impact family, friends, and the residents of the State of Ohio. The Developer in this role will primarily work with the business area personnel to assure requirement(s) are thoroughly defined & approved; performs impacts analyses to identify inter-dependencies; assists with design reviews; develops & maintains system interfaces; develops logical modeling & presentation solutions to implement based on requirements; develops, maintains, reviews & explains data models; uses various software applications, such as desktop tools, spreadsheets, data visualization, statistical software, graphical presentation tools & Business Intelligence (BI) applications (e.g., Power BI, Cogito, Tableau) to assemble, manipulate &/or format data; designs, develops & troubleshoots extract packages that implement complex programming processes; performs code review(s); serves as technical lead, as assigned.

  • Creates detailed test designs & test plans
  • Creates & reviews test data for performing test scenarios
  • Coordinates execution of unit & system test scripts
  • Coordinates debugging efforts & defect tracking
  • Coordinates support of user acceptance testing. 
  • Coordinates software implementation & deployment tasks
  • Leads the development, implementation & monitoring of IT quality assurance standards and testing
  • Performs performance and load testing
  • Works with application analysts to test & validate reports after installation 
  • Implementation of system patches, service utilities & version upgrades as assigned maintain data integrity. security for assigned applications and systems
  •  Translates concepts and directions into practical solutions.
  • Writes, reviews & coordinates the development of application-related training materials & software user guides, program &/or application source code documentation (e.g., uses cases, in-line code comments), departmental standards, appropriate standards & criteria for acceptable programming, documentation & systems development lifecycle activities, review development lifecycle activities.

This is an hourly position covered by the Ohio Health Care OCSEA bargaining unit (union), with a pay range of 35 on the OCSEA Pay Range Schedule. Normal working hours are Monday - Friday (hours vary). This position is located at 30 East Broad Street, 33rd floor, Columbus, Ohio 43215.

Unless required by any applicable union contract and/or requirements of the Ohio Revised Code, the selected candidate will begin at Step 1 of the pay range schedule listed above, with an opportunity for pay increase after six months of satisfactory performance and then a yearly raise thereafter.

Qualifications

The following are the minimum qualifications for this position. For further consideration, applicants must clearly identify how qualifications are met within the education and/or experience sections of the applications. The ideal candidate, at minimum, must meet one of the following options. 

Option 1:  60 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting. 

Or

Option 2:  Completion of associate core program in computer science or information systems; 42 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting. 

Or

Option 3:  Completion of undergraduate core program in computer science or information systems; 36 mos. combined work experience in any combination of the following: assuring requirements are defined and approved, performing code reviews and ensuring application development standards are met including 12 mos. work experience in the primary technology as specified by the agency position description & job posting. 

Or

Option 4:  Equivalent of minimum class qualifications for employment noted above. Note: The official position description on file with the designated agency is to reflect the required, primary technology directly relating to the duties of the position. Only those applicants possessing the experience in the required, primary technology listed in the position description & job posting are to be considered for any vacancies posted. The job posting must list the required technology commensurate with the position in question. 

Additional Preferred Qualifications:

Epic certification in one or more Epic modules (Bridges) or certification to be initiated as directed and completed within 3 months upon completion of Epic training.
