The Cargo Model team is responsible for different commodities covered by Kpler, including LNG, LPG, Liquids and Dry. The objective of the internship is to first, familiarize with the existing Destination Forecast Model, and run several ML experiments considering all commodities specificities to improve the overall models’ performance.
The internship objective is to focus on the Destination Forecast Model. This proprietary Machine Learning Model helps fill the gaps in vessels' future destinations. External sources such AIS, port authorities, fixtures, and market-based information are the backbone of Kpler's forecasting capabilities. When these are unavailable, the next best solution is our proprietary forecast model.

Your mission
- Understand the existing Data pipeline and Destination Forecast Model.
- Train the Machine Learning models on different commodities.
- Evaluate and iterate on the performance by adapting the current models to the commodities specificities.
- Exchange with our experts and product specialists, and then explore and build data engineering tools and techniques to improve models’ performance.
You'll be a match if you
- Currently pursuing a Master’s degree in Applied mathematics, Computer Science, Data Science or a related field.
- Strong background in machine learning techniques, algorithms and mathematical modeling.
- Practical knowledge of Python and SQL.
- Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a dynamic team environment.
- Understands software industry practices and are ready to acquire them.
- Fluent English speaker.
