About the role
Join the Enterprise Data Office (EDO), where we are working to make data an asset for solving challenges for CMHC in providing housing market stability, mortgage liquidity and support housing development and insights. In this role, you will be part of the leadership team bringing enterprise data services to life. You will lead the evolution of the organization’s data capabilities and provide expert advice on the data strategy practice and processes to ensure appropriate alignment with organizational objectives and provide IT operations support and advisory. The role requires expertise in strategic planning, change management, and project management to foster a data-centric culture to drive organizational goals.
What you’ll do:
- Lead the development and implementation of policies and standards, processes, related tools, and coordinate with data architecture in order to contribute to the overall maturity of CMHC’s Enterprise Data Governance program.
- Co-lead the development and implementation of data management standards, data protection standards, and implementation of master data management (MDM) and Reference Data Management (RDM) solutions and adoption requirements, coordinating with multidisciplinary teams (Privacy, Security, Risk, Architecture) and third-party vendors.
- Provide subject matter expertise related to data management, and inputs on the design and development of data modelling, cataloguing, business glossary, and Master Data Management / Reference Data Management activities.
- Liaise with IT and Business stakeholders to ensure alignment of data-related initiatives to enterprise-wide business objectives and Corporate Strategy and Change Management.
- Establish and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders across the organization to ensure EDO appropriately deploys its services.
- Develop and report on Key Performance Indicators and metrics to ensure the delivery of quantified value to the organization.
- Continuously evolve Data Services through project delivery, ensuring value realization and ensure sound data practices are reflected in both IT and Business Operations.
What you should have:
- An undergraduate degree in a relevant field such as computer systems, information management, or business administration.
- A minimum of ten (10) years of experience in data governance and management, including experience in developing and operationalizing policies, directive and standards, and a minimum of five (5) years in a leadership role.
- Extensive experience with data governance and implementation of data stewardship and information management practices, processes, and technologies (i.e.: Informatica, Collibra, or other tools).
- Demonstrated knowledge of data lifecycle management along with understanding of data modelling and data architecture.
- Advanced communications skills in both English and French combined with strong leadership skills to influence behaviors and direction, and persuade others to follow a plan of action, including the ability to provide strategic advice to Senior Management.
- Ability to prioritize and work on multiple initiatives simultaneously and under tight deadlines.
- Advanced analytical and problem-solving skills with a demonstrated ability to capture and synthesize information and develop recommendations.
It would be great if you also had:
- A Certified Information and Privacy Professional/Canada (CIPP/C) certification or equivalent industry recognized certifications.
- Certified Data Management Professional (DAMA) and/or Certified Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM).
- A Master’s degree in data-related areas such as Data Strategy, Data Governance, Data Management, Management of Analytics.
