Your Responsibilities
As a Staff Robotics Software Engineer for John Deere Intelligent Solutions Group located in Urbandale, Iowa, you will be the technical lead for low level embedded software that supports robotic products using cameras, perception sensing, high performance compute, computer vision, and machine learning. In addition, you will:

Act as a technical leader in designing, implementing, testing and analyzing work for large projects.

Investigate and implement proofs of concept with emerging technologies and architectures that provide clear conclusions and direction.

Operate in an Agile development team, providing input to design reviews within and outside your area of responsibility.

Coach and mentor new and experienced engineers how to develop within and to extend established guidelines.

What Skills You Need
- Extensive experience with software product development through practical work experience
- Extensive experience with Linux application development
- Experience working with C++ or other object-oriented languages
- Experience in scripting languages (e.g. Python, Bash, etc.)
- Experience in roles that required excellent communication skills with technical and non-technical staff
- Ability and willingness to travel domestically or internationally up to 10%
What Makes You Stand Out
- Extensive experience with Linux – configuration, customization, Yocto/Buildroot, system calls, performance, debugging with GDB and binutils, boot time optimization, cross compilation, new device bring-up, etc.
- Experience and expertise with C, C++ (including modern C++ syntax, patterns, practices)
- Experience with image ingress and image signal processing concepts (CSI/MIPI, HDR, white balance, demosaic, tone mapping, color correction, etc.)
- Experience with computer vision concepts (RGB, infrared, and other spectrums, homography, calibration, distortion correction, and stereovision)
- Experience or training with multi-process and multi-threaded systems
- Experience or training with performance profiling tools and algorithmic analysis and optimization
- Experience showing software optimization solutions or effective tradeoffs between software practices or using other hardened accelerators such as FPGA, GPU, or other accelerators
- Experience writing high performance GPU code in OpenGL, Vulkan, Metal, Direct3D, CUDA or similar
- Experience with CAN and Ethernet networking communication protocols
- Agricultural or construction/earthmoving industry experience
Education
Ideally you will have a degree or equivalent related work experience in the following:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering or related discipline
