We are looking for exceptional individuals with experience in deal analytics, data visualisation and leveraging data and business acumen to drive real commercial and operational insights for businesses.

Companies are collecting more data from a plethora of sources beyond standard financial accounts, including everything from geolocation data to social media posts. We use our business knowledge, coupled with our in-house innovative solutions and advanced digital capabilities, to provide industry leading insight and challenge to our clients. We pride ourselves on our ability to provide relevant perspectives, to investors and executives, who are making strategic and operational decisions about their businesses.

Our team focuses on financial services sectors, including banking, capital markets, wealth and asset management, and insurance.

Your key responsibilities

Your core work will often be during the exciting and high speed due diligence phase of an M&A process, or alongside a wider strategic or regulatory advisory project.

In your role as an Assistant Director you will have responsibility for:

  • Subject Matter Expertise: Functioning as a subject matter expert in advising clients to gain greater insight into their data and the value that data analytics can bring to an organisation.
  • Lead Assignments: Actively involve and lead throughout the life-cycle of an analytics assignment. Monitor the performance of project teams and manage project budgets.
  • Design Client Solutions: Design and build client solutions by understanding key business drivers, gathering, verifying, and assessing information to formulate views.
  • Review Deliverables: Plan, prepare, and review deliverables in various forms, including data workflows and code, visualisation dashboards, written reports and presentations
  • Client Collaboration: Work directly with clients to co-develop approaches, agree on value measurements, and provide value through insights, factual conclusions, and advice.
  • Risk Management: Manage clients’ expectations regarding deliverables, identify risks on projects, and work with an Engagement Partner to mitigate or resolve risks.
  • Relationship Management: Lead relationships with clients and other EY specialist teams, build and develop internal and external networks.
  • Sector Focus Development: Develop a sector focus and be actively involved in bringing sector-specific analytics offerings to market.
  • Sales Pipeline Development: Take ownership of developing a sales pipeline and lead in developing client relations.
  • Knowledge Sharing: Share your technical and other knowledge with your team and department, and support junior team members in developing their skills and technical expertise.
  • Team and Practice Management: Take a significant role in the growth of the team and wider practice. Support senior team members on practice management matters, including pipeline review, recruitment, and managing the team’s project portfolio.

Skills and attributes for success

  • Financial and Commercial acumen to understand our client’s challenge
  • Be able to gather, verify and assess information to formulate conclusions
  • The ability to analyse at pace and know where to focus attention
  • Strong attention to detail with a logical and methodical approach
  • Team working and communication skills
  • Ability to communicate key messages to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
  • Attention to business development both with clients and in innovation

To qualify for the role you must have

  • Strong commercial experience and/or relevant industry or transaction experience
  • A strong working knowledge of data manipulation and integration analytic tools (e.g. Alteryx, SQL, Excel)
  • Experience with data visualisation tools (e.g. PowerBI, Tableau)
  • Excitement to learn and share knowledge through the training of others
  • A passion to provide high quality service to your clients
  • Experience of coaching and mentoring team members
  • Extensive experience of Stakeholder and client communication

Ideally, you’ll also have

  • ACA, ACCA or equivalent qualification
  • Experience in programming languages typically used in analytics, (e.g. Python, SQL, R)

What we look for
You’ll be a trusted business advisor to our clients, so they’ll look to you to find, ask and answer the questions nobody else has asked yet, and then develop and execute an effective service. If you’re ready to take on a wide range of responsibilities and are committed to seeking out new ways to make a difference, this role is for you. Our projects often involve managing multiple stakeholders and high degrees of complexity and uncertainty. Decision making in this environment requires strong client management and communication skills, rigorous analytical techniques and excellent data handling skills.
