The Opportunity 

TC Energy’s Measurement Services Canada department is seeking to add an #EnergyProblemSolver based in Calgary, AB to support our partners, including Field Operations and Commercial organizations.

As a Specialist, Measurement Regulatory & Data Integrity, you will apply your knowledge and experience within a collaborative team environment to raise the bar in ensuring the quality of our measurement data. The accuracy of our data directly impacts our customer’s bottom line and, respectively, this role demands high attention to detail. Further, the data that we manage are used throughout the organization, from operating the pipeline system and validating energy balance, to managing customer volume allocations and emissions reporting.

What you'll do

  • Be the team’s technical expert as it relates to custody transfer measurement and systems.
  • Be the subject matter expert for the measurement regulatory portfolio and actively participate in related industry committees (e.g. Canada Gas Association’s Measurement & Regulatory Committee)
  • Evaluate, root cause, and resolve measurement data issues escalated by Analysts (e.g. LAUF)
  • Identify various levels of data integrity risk and lead activities to enhance our measurement accuracy posture including, but not limited to, conducting annual third-party measurement audits at facilities.
  • Support Analysts in planning for complex changes in pipeline configurations and facility outages
  • Adopt a continuous improvement approach and lead improvement of department process documentation and tools (e.g. Gas Measurement System) to enhance team capabilities to deliver high quality measurement information
  • Provide support to stakeholders on areas of expertise such as measurement imbalance root cause, measurement equipment failure trends, and data reporting to regulatory bodies.
  • Develop and maintain excellent customer service standards, confidentiality, and working relationships with producers, connecting operators, and internal partners.
  • Support month end activities to finalize measurement data to meet multiple monthly deadlines.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering and 15+ years of experience related to Natural Gas Measurement, Commodity Scheduling, and/or Field Operations
  • Demonstrated expertise of the Electricity & Gas Inspection Act and Regulation, and custody transfer measurement equipment and systems.
  • Demonstrated analytical, risk management and negotiation skills with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Consideration will be given to individuals with other combinations of education and experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in designing Gas Measurement Systems to manage energy and volume.
  • Experience in the design of measurement facilities and natural gas scientific principles (e.g. fluid dynamics, gas chemistry and behaviours)
  • Active participation with Canada Gas Association’s Measurement and Regulatory Committee
  • Understanding of Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin (WCSB) and TC Energy’s NovaGas Transmission Ltd (NGTL) System.

This position requires candidates to

  • Occasionally work extended workdays to complete month end closing deadlines
  • Maintain a valid driver's license for occasionally travel to other company locations (~15%).
