[What the role is]

School of Engineering - Deputy Manager/ Manager (Data Engineer)

[What you will be working on]

• Design and develop data models, ETL (end-to-end) pipelines, and data integration processes while ensuring data accuracy and quality.

• Analyse ETL requirements from users and provide solutions accordingly.

• Responsible for planning and executing data profiling and data quality analysis.

• Monitor data pipelines, databases and analytical processes to ensure smooth operations.

• Involve in a full cycle of project implementation, from gathering requirements with stakeholders, data design and modelling, development, testing, training and documentation.

• Identify and resolve data-related issues, performance bottlenecks and data quality problems.

• Design and document data catalogues and data architectures.

• Collaborate with data scientists to deploy, monitor, and maintain ML/AI projects in production systems.

[What we are looking for]

• A qualification in Computer Science or related discipline.

• Preferably with at least 3 years of experience in data engineering, ETL development, and database management.

• Technical experience in Databricks, Azure Synapse, Azure Machine Learning, Cloud services (e.g. AWS, Azure), or SQL Server Integration Services would be an advantage.

• Proficiency in PL/SQL and Python, including performance tuning and troubleshooting

• Ability to work in a collaborative and fast-paced environment with a growth mindset.

• Strong oral and written communication skills in English.

• Ability to deliver tasks on time with high-quality outcomes.

• Highly motivated, and able to work independently and in a team.

Candidates with extensive experience in data engineering, ETL development, database management, along with strong technical skills in relevant cloud and database technologies, as well as a proven track record in end-to-end project implementation and stakeholder engagement, may be considered for more senior positions.
