THE OPPORTUNITY:
The purpose of the role is to support our dynamic NZME teams by delivering data analysis, data modelling, data driven products, dashboards and insights related to NZME’s huge digital audience. Primarily, the role assists NZME editorial, e-commerce and advertising teams understand and activate the huge amount of data we have at hand. The goal is to provide expert, in-depth analysis to answer complex questions and model data so it can be activated. The role will participate in multi-disciplinary teams by building innovative data driven products including recommendation engines and other forecasting tools.
HOW YOU'LL DO IT:
Data Modelling and Machine Learning:
- Write SQL queries to combine, manipulate and analyse data in BigQuery
- Use ML applications with Google Cloud Platform to model data for use cases such as:
- Attribution modelling
- Behaviour Modelling
- Customer segmentation
- Churn retention and propensity to purchase modelling
- Content Recommendation Engines
- Work closely with other team members such as Data Engineers to productionise ML Models.
Analysis and Insights
- Work closely with internal business owners to understand user behaviours across NZME’s websites as well as business models and requirements.
- Liaise with development teams to develop and maintain analytics tags to ensure key events are captured.
- Analyse web and behavioural data to provide advice and recommendations to NZME teams. Eg. Analyse audience engagement and channel impact on article and e-commerce performance.
- Provide data led recommendations to NZME teams to help them move the needle on their KPI’s.
Reporting and dashboards:
- Build automated Dashboards to surface information to internal teams. You will use tools such as Google Data Studio and Tableau.
- Work with other Data and Analytics Team members to identify opportunities to automate data pipelines and reports.
ABOUT YOU:
- Tertiary qualified – statistics, applied mathematics, computer or data science.
- 3+ years of data and web analytics experience preferred.
- Knowledge of the production and application of Machine Learning algorithm and strong SQL skills – BigQuery ML or other data warehouse preferred, experience working with GA data required.
- Experience using Python for statistical applications required
- A critical thinker with an analytical and curious mind-set with the ability to explain complex problems and solutions to business users.
- Experience with Google Tag Manager or other tag management platforms is advantageous.
- Experience with BI products such as Google Datastudio and Tableau essential.
- Experience with the Google Cloud Platform preferred.
- Team player with a sense of humour and a positive attitude.
- Knowledge of agile working principles will be advantageous.
