We’re family owned and operated, brought together more than six decades ago in the petroleum industry’s service sectors.Ergon Inc.'s Business Optimization Department is seeking a full-time Data Governance Analyst to join our team. The Data Governance Analyst (DGA) is a detail-oriented and analytical individual who will play a crucial role in modeling business processes, cleansing and documenting data, analyzing data flows, and understanding the fundamental aspects of data storage and relationship models.
Education and Experience Requirements:
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or a related field.
- Proven experience as a Data Governance Analyst or in a similar role.
- Experience in an industry where key components include plant maintenance, equipment maintenance, and transportation.
- Strong understanding of data management principles and methodologies.
- Proficient in data modeling and data analysis.
- Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
- Strong communication and collaboration skills.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Passion for data.
- Takes initiative.
Preferred Skills:
- Experience with data governance tools and software.
- Knowledge of data privacy and protection regulations.
- Knowledge of industry best practices and emerging data governance and management trends.
- Certification in data governance or data management (e.g., CDMP, DGSP) is a plus.
- Experience with content management systems for unstructured data like OpenText is a plus.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Model business processes and document data and data flows.
- Understand and apply the basic fundamentals of data, including how it's created, stored, used, and maintained.
- Conduct data cleanup activities and make informed decisions about what data to keep and what to discard.
- Investigate and analyze data to identify patterns, trends, and anomalies.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure data accuracy and consistency.
- Develop and implement data governance policies and procedures.
- Monitor and report on data quality metrics.
- Participate in data governance initiatives and projects.
- Advanced skills in MS-Excel and preferably other analytics and data manipulation tools.
