Job Description

Purpose of the role

To lead the development and execution of the bank's Data & Analytics strategy, aligned with the bank's overall business goals and risk appetite, ensuring data is used effectively to drive business growth, optimise operations, and mitigate risks.  

Accountabilities

  • Enablement of Business or Function Unit Strategy through fostering and embedding a comprehensive understanding of how data can be used, bringing thought leadership on best practices and new capabilities to deliver Business outcomes.   .
  • Adherence to data policies standards and controls and inform this over time, driving Data Quality in support of use cases.
  • Partnership with the Business or Function leadership to lead the definition and prioritisation of data use cases, business data products and their implementation and realisation of benefit.
  • Prioritisation of activity required for Data and Analytics and challenge the overall end to end design and architecture.

The role will involve working closely with senior business and technology stakeholders on the planning and delivery of USCB data analytics use cases on AWS cloud. Supporting and mentoring a high performing, efficient team with the different technical and functional skills across global locations.

To be successful as a VP Business Data Architect, you should have experience with:

  • Data Products or Data Solutions and where possible knowledge in setting up or transforming a Data Products function
  • Excellent understanding of data concepts and data solution architecture processes and methodologies to drive scalable data products
  • Collaborating effectively with cross functional teams to assess and identify data product opportunities to drive business value
  • Experience in shaping and driving scoping and prioritization discussions where possible specifically in data products, data solutions and offerings based on criticality or materiality
  • Good understanding of and or experience in other data related capabilities including Data Architecture, Data Analytics, Data Modelling, Policy Assurance, Data Governance, Data Quality and Controls

Some other highly valued skills include:

  • Relevant background in designing and implementing complex and scalable data products and data capabilities, preferably within the financial services sector
  • Proven experience in business data solution offerings with familiarity in Big Data and Cloud capabilities and working in cross-functional teams, preferably with knowledge in data driven roles
  • User-Centric Mindset – understanding how data products solve business problems and drive business value
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, in Computer Science, Engineering, Business or related fields
  • Good understanding of Data strategy with proven problem-solving skills to offer cross-function solutions
