Are you passionate about using data to drive strategic decision-making? Join our dynamic team in Weybridge as a Data Engineer, where you’ll play a crucial role in shaping the future of digital transformation. Collaborating closely with the Head of Digital Strategy Platform, you will help accelerate data-driven management decisions by designing, building, and optimizing robust data architectures.
You Will
As a key member of our Digital Transformation platform engineering team, you will work alongside the Global Information Systems group and other internal teams to develop scalable data pipelines, systems, and architectures that align with business needs. Your expertise will ensure accurate, reliable, and accessible data across Sony Europe, enabling actionable insights and innovation. You will be providing data that is accurate, timely, and easily accessible from disparate source systems with varying levels of documentation and expertise. You will be transforming raw data into usable, scalable forms to support other teams with their own agendas and for proving insights to the wider business.
Develop & Maintain: Design and implement scalable data architectures and pipelines using best-in-class tools and technologies.
Monitor & Troubleshoot: Support customers in resolving data issues, ensuring seamless operations and minimal downtime.
Optimize & Manage: Continuously improve and refactor existing solutions to enhance data flow efficiency and long-term sustainability.
Collaborate: Work with multi-functional teams to understand business requirements and deliver tailored data solutions.
Share Expertise: Serve as a domain expert, advising teams on standard processes, tools, and technologies for data management.
You Will Bring
- Strong understanding of data architecture, engineering principles, and key technologies such as SQL, Python, Git, DevOps, and medallion design.
- Hands-on experience with data transformation and provisioning systems, including Azure, Databricks, and SQL Server.
- Exposure to SAP, Power BI, or Microsoft Fabric (desirable but not essential).
- Degree in a relevant field or equivalent experience with a deep understanding of data design principles.
- Awareness of emerging data lake technologies, such as SAP Datasphere and Apache Iceberg.
- Experience working with consumer sales data (e.g., master data, sales, forecasting) is a plus.
- Strong communication skills, with the ability to convey technical concepts to both technical and non-technical customers.
- Strong documentation skills
- Experience in multinational organizations and multi-functional, multicultural environments.
- Fluency in English.
