The team ensures that QBE NA leverages data as driver for business value enablement through effective collaboration across our business and functional teams. The VP, Insights & Analytics Innovation Leader will lead a team of experts responsible for translating complex data inputs into clear and actionable insights for business and functional teams to support the achievement of strategic NA business objectives. This leader will ensure the successful delivery and continued optimization of best-in-class data analytics products, services and solutions to support business and functional teams, while working toward next-generation analytics capabilities across the portfolio to improve self-service functionality, uncover non-obvious value drivers, and improve near-real-time delivery of insights. The VP is expected to work in close partnership with NA Data, IT, data science, digital, business and functional leaders, and external partners. The role will act in an advisory capacity to enable data-driven decision-making across NA business and functional teams. This role will report directly to QBE NA’s Head of Data, and will be a member of the NA Data Leadership Team.
Location: New York City (55 Water Street, NY)
Work Arrangement: This role is hybrid, where you will be expected to be in the office 2-3 days per week.
The salary range for this role is between $183,000-$275,000
Your New Role
Create, own and optimize best-in-class suite of compelling data analytics products, services and solutions that translate complex data inputs into actionable and value-added insights that drive business, functional and strategic data priorities across NAO
Partner closely with NA Data leadership, IT delivery, data science and digital teams to ensure analytics product delivery is aligned to business value objectives
Act in an advisory capacity to translate trends and non-obvious data insights into actionable strategies to increase the speed of decision-making and improve productivity across NA business cells and functional teams. Establish and cultivate analytic SME knowledge (Analytics COE) to support strategic priorities across Specialty, Commercial, Underwriting, Claims, Operations and Finance
Operationalize, own and continuously optimize the “productization” of analytics delivery in partnership with the Data Product and Platforms team
Support the establishment of UX (including wireframing, prototyping, design libraries, etc.) capabilities to support customer-centric data design around analytic product delivery, in partnership with the Data Design team
Influence NAO’s data capabilities roadmap by driving toward next-generation data visualization, self-service functionality and near-real-time insights delivery across our platforms
Partner closely with IT delivery, actuarial, data science and various business groups on various analytic delivery efforts
Be an expert in all thing data analytics, including data aggregation, data wrangling, advanced quantitative methods/modelling approaches and statistical packages (like Stata, SAS, SPSS, R, Python), data output interpretation, data visualization approaches and software (Tableau, Qlik, Looker, Power BI), and open-source data web technologies for data visualization (Angular, Node.js, D3.js)
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor's Degree or equivalent combination of education and work experience
10+ years relevant experience
Preferred Competencies/Skills
Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills; able to demonstrate executive presence and lead through influence across all levels of the organization
Ability to translate strategic objectives from across Divisional business and functional teams into analytic design and delivery requirements. Significant experience in commercial-grade analytics, data science, and AI/ML product development and delivery at Fortune 500 companies
Extensive experience in overall data, data science, analytics, technology, analytic product development, and interpretation in commercial / P&L environments
Experience in SAS, R, Python, Stata or other statistical data packages and coding languages
Extensive experience in data visualization approaches and software (Tableau, Qlik, Looker, Power BI), and open-source data web technologies for data visualization (Angular, Node.js, D3.js)
Significant experience working with actuarial, data science, technical and business teams to design, build and deliver business-critical data analytics solutions
Comfortable with ambiguity and uncertainty, ability work in a fast-paced environment as a technical data leader
Project Management and Delivery skills (project planning and tracking; issue identification and management; project status reporting)
Compensation Package: The salary range for this role is provided above. This is the national range for location(s) listed. The salary offer will be decided based on the role's complexity, its location, and the candidate’s professional background, including their education and experience. Beyond the base salary, regular full-time and part-time employees will also be eligible for QBE’s annual discretionary bonus plan based on business and individual performance.
