Senior Software Development Engineer - Sensor Technology, Amazon Robotics (AR)

We are seeking a talented and motivated Senior Software Engineer to spearhead the research and development of next generation sensor and compute technology in robotics. We are a cross-disciplinary team aiming to enable broad use cases of sensor technology in Amazon Fulfillment network.

The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in software development and vision-based sensors. The candidate need to have strong technical expertise to deliver independently, as well as great leadership skills to drive multiple projects with internal teams and external partners. We will support you to make this journey fulfilling, rewarding and fun.

As a senior member of the team, you can have a huge impact on everything from our technology roadmap, to the functionality we deliver for our customers, to the design and architecture of our systems, to the algorithms we employ, and to the culture we build.

Key job responsibilities
- Research emerging sensor and perception technologies for Amazon fulfillment network.
- Architect, design, develop and productize full stack software and services to enable Artificial Intelligence (AI) on Edge Computing.
- Collaborate with hardware, firmware and software teams as well as suppliers to research, develop and integrate new sensor technologies.
- Identify the right technologies to delight internal customers by working backwards from customer needs and working directly with customers to evaluate prototypes and incorporate feedback.

Basic Qualifications

- Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
- 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
- 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience
- 5+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
- 4+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
- Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team
- High level of proficiency with C/C++ programming languages.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience with sensors, including but not limited to camera, stereo camera, time-of-flight sensors, Radar, and Lidar.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent leadership, teamwork and collaboration skills with a high level of attention to detail.
- Ability to drive a project from concepts, scoping to production.
- Ability to support domestic and international travel as required by the program
