Data Platforms is one of the pillars within the Chief Data Office (CDO), part of T. Rowe Price’s Chief Operating Office (COO). The team is responsible for enabling high integrity data through the use of strategic enterprise data and analytics capabilities enabling our Enterprise Data Strategy. This role serves as a bridge between technology, architecture and business teams to ensure our enterprise data platforms are equipped with the right capabilities to ensure democratization of data for the use of insights, analytics and automation.
Role Summary
The Data Platforms Product Director, reporting to the Chief Data Officer, plays a crucial role in overseeing the development and optimization of our Enterprise Data Platforms. This position is responsible for ensuring scalable, secure, and efficient data access, with a strong emphasis on enhancing capabilities and driving adoption. The director will define the strategy and roadmaps for data platforms, focusing on capabilities, functional and non-functional requirements, operational resilience, and continuous improvement.
Acting as a change agent for the firm, the Data Platforms Product Director will also partner with Enterprise Architecture (EA) to simplify the data platforms and tools landscape. By employing product management and agile principles, the director will bridge the gap between architecture, technology, and business teams. This collaboration is essential for executing cross-functional use cases that are deeply rooted in data management and governance, ultimately fostering a culture of innovation and efficiency.
The ideal candidate will have a strong background in data management and product management and a proven track record of leading successful change initiatives. They will be adept at navigating organizational dynamics and building consensus among diverse teams. Responsibilities
- Strategy Development: Define and implement the strategy and roadmaps for the organization's data platforms, ensuring alignment with the firm's strategic goals.
- Stakeholder Collaboration: Act as a bridge between architecture, technology, and business teams to facilitate effective communication and collaboration.
- Product Model Deployment: Lead the deployment of a product model that enhances data capabilities and drives adoption across the organization.
- Requirements Definition: Develop concise and clear requirements for the data technology team to ensure the development of scalable, secure, and efficient data platforms.
- Change Leadership: Serve as a change agent, partnering with Enterprise Architecture (EA) to simplify the data platforms and tools landscape.
- Operational Resilience: Ensure the operational resilience of data platforms by focusing on non-functional requirements and continuous improvement.
- Governance and Compliance: Integrate data management and governance practices into data platforms to ensure compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
- Performance Monitoring: Monitor and evaluate the performance of data platforms, identifying opportunities for optimization and enhancement.
- Innovation Advocacy: Advocate for the adoption of innovative technologies and practices that drive efficiency and effectiveness in data management.
- Team Leadership: Provide leadership and guidance to cross-functional teams, fostering a culture of collaboration and continuous improvement.
Qualifications
Required:
- Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and relevant experience
- 15+ years of total relevant work experience ideally including data management and/or product management
- 8+ years people management experience
- Accomplished, innovative product/technology executive with a demonstrated track record of driving and delivering results with a strategic mindset.
- Effective and credible leader, with the ability to influence and get things done through others.
- Inspirational and compelling leader, who will foster an environment that supports diversity and reflects T.Rowe Prices’ mission orientation
- Strong communicator, able to communicate a vision and bring people along on a journey.
- Strong stakeholder management skills, able to engage with Global Business/Global Function to drive business results.
- Product leader with hands-on experience of developing vision/strategy, stakeholder input and clear requirements leveraging new technologies for managing large volumes of data.
- Thought leader, with demonstrated knowledge of data structure, data systems/tools, data software, and data management policies and practices
- Demonstrated experience delivering and managing high-volume, real-time data platforms.
- A proven leader who has built and managed high performing teams, instilling confidence, focus, discipline, camaraderie, and passion within their organization.
- Deep background in managing governance frameworks and standards that deal with large volumes of data in hybrid or cloud environments.
- Followed trends in new technologies and developed experience transforming and modernizing legacy systems.
- Experience operating in a complex organizational environment, and with extensive experience leading transformational change programs.
- Track record of delivering improved data management, governance, and security to the organization.
Preferred:
- Master’s degree or MBA
- In-depth understanding of asset management industry
- Experience leading and working in Agile environments, ideally at scale but with the ability to flex as needed e.g., waterfall

FINRA licenses are not required and will not be supported for this role.
Work Flexibility
This role is eligible for hybrid work, with up to three days per week from home.
