Data Scientist - Infrastructure Platform

Responsibilities

About the Team
Our Infrastructure Engineering organization builds and operates hyper-scale datacenters, manages the life cycle of server assets, allocates cloud resources and creates various cloud solutions, and provides infrastructure services including widely distributed Content Distribution Networks (CDNs).

The Infrastructure Platform team builds and leverage various platforms and tools to manage and interact with our infrastructures and services, including end-to-end capacity delivery, asset management, data center infrastructure management, system engineering, server fleet management, financial operation, governance, risk, and compliance, etc. To support fast growth and improve operation efficiency, these platforms need to be feature rich, easy to use, scalable, agile and compliant with policies and procedures.

Responsibilities - What You'll Do
- Apply technical expertise in large-scale data analysis, experimentation, predictive modeling, and performance analytics to support business and infrastructure capacity planning, improve service performance and stability, optimize cost and utilization of data centers, cloud services and networks.
- Assist cross-functional teams in prioritizing infrastructure development, optimizing server performance, and setting measurable objectives, diagnose performance bottlenecks, and drive continuous improvements to enhance TikTok's infrastructure stability and growth.
- Work with data engineering teams to develop and maintain monitoring tools, dashboards, and performance metrics that provide real-time insights into infrastructure efficiency, optimization, and stability.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications
- BS or advanced degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Statistics, or a related field
- Solid skill with at least one of the following programming languages: Python, R, Scala, SQL
- Strong proficiency in machine learning techniques, including time series forecasting, regression, classification, clustering, anomaly detection, LLM, etc.

Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of work experience in a related field
- Knowledge of cloud service, data centers, supply chains and network engineering is a plus.
- Experience with developing machine learning models at scale from inception to business impact.
- Experience with Tableau, Power BI, or other business intelligence platforms.
- Familiar with Big Data technologies (Hive, Spark, Kafka, ClickHouse, Flink etc.)

【For Pay Transparency】Compensation Description (Annually)

The base salary range for this position in the selected city is $144000 - $244000 annually.​

Compensation may vary outside of this range depending on a number of factors, including a candidate’s qualifications, skills, competencies and experience, and location. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units.​

Benefits may vary depending on the nature of employment and the country work location. Employees have day one access to medical, dental, and vision insurance, a 401(k) savings plan with company match, paid parental leave, short-term and long-term disability coverage, life insurance, wellbeing benefits, among others. Employees also receive 10 paid holidays per year, 10 paid sick days per year and 17 days of Paid Personal Time (prorated upon hire with increasing accruals by tenure).​
