About the role
We are seeking an accomplished Principal, Enterprise Data Management, Data & AI to lead the strategy and implementation of enterprise-grade data management solutions. As an industry expert, the ideal candidate will have deep expertise in data cataloging, data quality, metadata management, and data governance tooling. This role will play a pivotal part in building a standardized data ingestion framework, ensuring robust and scalable data acquisition across the organization.
The Principal will act as a thought leader, mentoring teams and collaborating globally to establish a Community of Practice (CoP) for Data Management, driving best practices, innovation, and alignment across business units.
The Principal, Enterprise Data Management will report directly to the Vice President, Data and AI.
What you'll do here:
Enterprise Data Management & Tooling Implementation :
Lead the end-to-end implementation of enterprise data management tooling, including data cataloging, data quality, and metadata management (e.g., Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Atlan).
Define data lineage strategies, enabling traceability and transparency across data assets.
Partner with security and compliance teams to ensure robust data access controls, policy enforcement, and risk mitigation.
Standardized Data Acquisition Framework :
Oversee the design and implementation of a scalable, robust data ingestion framework to streamline data acquisition from structured and unstructured sources.
Ensure the framework supports batch, real-time, and event-driven ingestion patterns, leveraging cloud-native architectures (AWS, Databricks)
Advocate for the use of ETL/ELT best practices, data pipelines, and schema evolution strategies to ensure data consistency and quality.
Collaborate with data engineers and architects to drive standardization, automation, and reusability of ingestion components.
Global Leadership & Community of Practice :
Establish and lead a global Community of Practice (CoP) for Data Management, fostering knowledge sharing, innovation, and alignment across data teams.
Mentor engineers and data professionals, providing guidance on data management principles, tooling best practices, and emerging technologies.
Engage with external industry leaders, participate in conferences, webinars, and forums, and bring cutting-edge insights to the organization.
Collaboration & Strategic Influence
Act as a trusted advisor to executives, business leaders, and technology stakeholders, providing insights on enterprise data strategy and execution.
Partner with data engineering, AI/ML, cloud, and security teams to ensure seamless integration of data management solutions.
Define and track KPIs and success metrics for data quality, data governance, and ingestion efficiency.
Drive tool evaluations and proof-of-concepts (POCs) ensuring alignment with organizational goals.
What you bring to the table:
Bachelor’s degree in Software Engineering or any combination of equivalent education and experience.
15+ years of experience in enterprise data management, data governance, and metadata management.
Expert knowledge of data cataloging, data lineage, and data quality tools (Collibra, Alation, Informatica, Atlan, etc.).
Proven experience in designing and implementing scalable data ingestion frameworks in cloud environments (AWS, Azure, GCP).
Deep expertise in Python, Spark, Kafka, Airflow, and other modern data processing tools.
Strong background in data architecture, governance frameworks and compliance regulations.
Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to influence at all levels of the organization.
For candidates located in Quebec, bilingualism is required considering the necessity to interact on a regular basis with English-speaking colleagues across the country.
No Canadian work experience required however must be eligible to work in Canada.
