About the Role

At WEX, we’re expanding our early career opportunities and seeking passionate, highly skilled individuals who want to make a real impact. We’re part of the Digital Channels, Shared Experiences Customer Data Platform (CDP) Product Management Team, driving strategic initiatives that shape how our organization manages and reflects on the knowledge we use to optimize customer data for experiences. In this contingent, short-term internship (May 27, 2025, through August 29, 2025), you’ll experience a supportive, fast-paced environment where you’ll learn and grow—gaining hands-on exposure to Agile Methodology and working directly with scrum teams.

This role is primarily remote, but you must live within proximity to our Portland, ME or Boston, MA corporate hub to benefit from meaningful oversight, mentoring, and our exciting Intern Week “T&E” at Corporate. Over approximately 13 weeks—from the end of May to mid-August—you’ll collaborate with multiple team members across various departments, supporting and even leading different projects. Our comprehensive guidance and education will help you build confidence, expand your professional experiences, and develop valuable skills in one of the most strategic companies in the world.

WEX is a global commerce platform that helps businesses solve operational complexities like employee benefits, managing and mobilizing fleets, and streamlining payments. With over 6,500 employees worldwide, we serve both large and small companies in more than 200 countries and territories, tailoring our services to each organization’s unique needs.

General Statement About the Work

As part of the CDP Team, you’ll help establish a formalized process for teams to request new data extensions or modifications within our platform—streamlining intake, prioritization, and execution. You will create a robust Knowledgebase for our new Customer Data Platform, converting live training sessions into structured materials and collaborating with Marketing and Sales teams to develop a Learning Management System (LMS). In the process, you’ll learn Agile principles and work closely with scrum teams to manage backlogs, prioritize tasks, and execute sprints. Your contributions will significantly improve scalability, transparency, and the overall effectiveness of how WEX leverages the CDP.

Key Responsibilities

  • Service Request Tracking & Process Improvement

  • Assist with manual request tracking, building the basic intake process using internal tools.

  • Contribute to the creation of a Google Form (or similar) to capture essential information for core request types (e.g., marketing automation).

  • Provide support for refining and documenting a formal workflow that identifies all request types, ensuring minimal but effective tracking.

  • Facilitate the transition to JSM (including training, automated notifications, and connecting request data to prioritization workflows).

  • Engage in Agile ceremonies (e.g., daily standups, backlog refinement) to support scrum team operations.

  • Learning Program & Knowledgebase Launch

  • Design and develop a scalable, user-friendly knowledgebase in an existing WEX platform (e.g., Confluence).

  • Record and document training sessions from ongoing and initial CDP projects, converting live discussions into structured, easily accessible learning materials.

  • Documentation & Process Capture

  • Conduct a discovery process to gather information about existing CDP features, processes, and best practices.

  • Consolidate initial training sessions, user guides, and onboarding materials into comprehensive documentation.

  • Create a CDP Experience Playbook outlining core functionalities, real-time examples, data insights, and recommended practices for various end-user roles.

  • Gap Analysis & Continuous Improvement

  • Assess current documentation, identifying content gaps and inefficiencies.

  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to fill gaps, streamline documentation, and propose workflow/training enhancements.

  • Incorporate feedback loops to ensure continuous improvement of learning materials.

  • Advanced Learning Tools & Automation

  • Explore opportunities to integrate AI-driven personalization for training and knowledge delivery within an LMS.

  • Recommend and implement automation strategies to keep knowledgebase content up to date (e.g., auto-generated release notes, FAQs, guides).

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Product Managers, Marketing, Sales, and technical stakeholders to understand features in development and produce timely, relevant documentation.

  • Coordinate with internal training teams to ensure that onboarding and offboarding processes are efficient and well-documented.

  • Stakeholder Communication & Training Delivery

  • Present findings and progress to key stakeholders, highlighting successes, challenges, and recommended next steps.

  • Support the transition to self-service by creating user-friendly training modules and conducting walkthroughs for new hires or transitioning teams.

Must Have for This Role

  • Working toward a bachelor’s degree (Undergraduate requirement).

  • At least two years of coursework completed in business, marketing, technology, or a related field.

  • Basic understanding of process improvement, data tracking, product or project management fundamentals.

  • Experience with common business tools (e.g., Google Workspace, Jira, Confluence, or Microsoft Office) and a willingness to learn new systems quickly.

  • Strong problem-solving skills and a passion for improving workflows and collaboration.

What You’ll Gain

  • Hands-on Experience: Immerse yourself in a growing data platform environment, learning how to design and maintain a knowledgebase that supports complex, data-driven initiatives.

  • Professional Growth: Develop valuable project management, collaboration, and communication skills while interacting with seasoned professionals in pProduct mManagement, aAnalytics, eEngineering, and mMarketing.

  • Impactful Work: Help shape a learning program that directly contributes to faster onboarding, efficient self-service, and minimized resolution times for users across the organization.

  • Networking Opportunities: Engage with a variety of stakeholders and leaders, building a strong professional network.
