Overview

Position Summary: 

The Epic BI Analyst is responsible for developing, maintaining, and optimizing reporting and analytics solutions within the Epic Cogito Suite, including Clarity, Caboodle, SlicerDicer, and Reporting Workbench. This role involves collaborating with clinical, financial, and operational stakeholders to transform data into actionable insights that drive decision-making and improve patient outcomes. The analyst will design reports, dashboards, and data models while ensuring data integrity, performance, and compliance with organizational and regulatory standards. 

Qualifications

Educational Background:

A bachelor’s degree in business analytics, health informatics, Information Systems, Clinical Healthcare, or a related field is preferred. 

 

Epic Certification: Certification in Clarity, Caboodle, SlicerDicer, or Reporting Workbench (or willingness to obtain certification within a specified timeframe). 

 

  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and data interpretation skills. 
  • Knowledge of healthcare operations, revenue cycle, clinical workflows, and regulatory reporting requirements. 
  • Familiarity with data visualization tools (e.g., Power BI, Tableau, Qlik, or Epic’s Radar Dashboards). 
  • Ability to translate business needs into technical solutions and communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical users. 
  • Experience with ETL processes, database management, and report automation is preferred. 

Responsibilities

Epic BI Reporting & Data Analysis 

  • Develop and maintain SQL queries, dashboards, and reports using Epic Clarity, Caboodle, and SlicerDicer. 
  • Design custom reports and data extracts to support clinical, financial, and operational decision-making. 
  • Optimize report performance and ensure data accuracy. 

  

Stakeholder Collaboration & Support 

  • Work closely with clinical, financial, and IT teams to define reporting requirements and deliver solutions that meet business needs. 
  • Conduct data validation and work with end users to refine report specifications. 
  • Provide training and support to users on self-service reporting tools like SlicerDicer and Reporting Workbench. 

 

Data Governance & Compliance 

  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, CMS, and other regulatory requirements related to data privacy and reporting. 
  • Assist in maintaining data dictionaries, metadata, and documentation for reports and dashboards. 

 

System Maintenance & Optimization 

  • Participate in Epic system upgrades, testing, and validation related to BI tools. 
  • Monitor and optimize SQL queries and data warehouse performance. 
  • Identify opportunities to improve data quality and efficiency in report generation. 

 

Project Management & Process Improvement 

  • Support BI and analytics projects from requirements gathering through implementation and optimization. 
  • Automate routine reporting processes and develop workflows to enhance data accessibility. 
  • Identify opportunities for predictive analytics, machine learning, and data-driven decision-making.
