What you’ll be doing
As a member of the Risk Management team, you’ll lead the implementation of CIBC's Second Line of Defense operational risk program for Data and Artificial Intelligence (AI). As a Director, you’ll focus on leading comprehensive risk assessments, establishing oversight mechanisms, and collaborating with stakeholders to enhance risk management practices.
At CIBC we enable the work environment most optimal for you to thrive in your role. You’ll have the flexibility to manage your work activities within a hybrid work arrangement where you’ll spend 2-3 days per week on-site, while other days will be remote.
How you’ll succeed
- Risk assessment leadership - Lead comprehensive risk assessments, including Change Initiative Risk Assessments (CIRA) and Risk and Control Self-Assessments (RCSAs), to identify and mitigate operational risks associated with data, AI, and project management.
- Operational risk framework oversight - Establish mechanisms to optimize risk insights, ensuring alignment with CIBC’s risk taxonomy and regulatory standards.
- Stakeholder engagement - Collaborate with key stakeholders across CIBC to effectively identify, assess, and manage operational risks related to processes and key business services. Foster strong relationships to promote a culture of risk awareness.
- Risk analysis and improvement plans - Define and implement a structured approach for conducting gap assessments of operational risk policies and practices, creating actionable plans to address identified areas for improvement.
- Monitoring and assessment of internal controls - Collaborate with business owners to ensure proper monitoring and assessment of internal controls, utilizing key metrics such as KPIs, KRIs, and KCIs to evaluate effectiveness.
- Deliver comprehensive risk reporting - Establish and provide regular reporting on operational risks, controls, and mitigations, ensuring that senior management and relevant committees receive timely updates and actionable insights.
Who you are
- You can demonstrate extensive experience in operational risk management, particularly in data and AI initiatives. You have a proven track record in conducting risk assessments and managing operational controls effectively.
- It’s an asset if you hold certifications related to data management or artificial intelligence such as Data Management Capability Assessment Model (DCAM); or certifications/accreditations related to risk management, such as RIMS Certified Risk Management Professional.
