The Opportunity: 

As an experienced engineer, you know that machine learning (ML) is critical to understanding and processing massive datasets. Your ability to conduct statistical analyses on business processes using ML techniques makes you an integral part of delivering a customer-focused solution. We need your technical knowledge and desire to problem-solve to support critical defense missions. As an optical character recognition (OCR) and natural language processing (NLP) ML engineer on our Chief Technology Office team, you’ll train, test, deploy, and maintain models that learn from data.   

In this role, you’ll own and define the direction of mission-critical solutions by applying best-fit ML algorithms and technologies. You’ll be part of a large community of machine learning engineers across the company and collaborate with data engineers, data scientists, solutions architects, and product owners to deliver world class solutions to the special operations community. Your extensive technical expertise will guide clients as they navigate the landscape of ML algorithms, tools, and frameworks.

You Have:  

• 5+ years of experience with ML engineering, data science, research engineering, software engineering, development, or full stack engineering, including in an academic or professional environment

• Experience with object-oriented programming in Java, C++, or Python

• Experience with developing software architecture with containerization tools, including Docker or Kubernetes

• Experience in the Special Operations or DoD community

• Experience with databases, including SQL

• Knowledge of data science fundamentals and methods

• TS/SCI clearance

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or Engineering

Nice If You Have:  

• 5+ years of experience developing and deploying machine learning models into production within DoD enclaves

• Experience with training models in Databricks with MLflow

• Experience with software development, including API development or database management, and model deployment and usage with JavaScript frameworks, including React, Angular, or Node.js

• Knowledge of DoD and IC domain and artificial intelligence principles and practices

• Ability to deploy production application to a Cloud environment, including Google Cloud or Amazon Web Services

• Master's degree

Salary at Booz Allen is determined by various factors, including but not limited to location, the individual’s particular combination of education, knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience, as well as contract-specific affordability and organizational requirements. The projected compensation range for this position is $96,600.00 to $220,000.00 (annualized USD). The estimate displayed represents the typical salary range for this position and is just one component of Booz Allen’s total compensation package for employees.
