Compensation includes a base salary of $108,800.00 - $181,400.00. The base salary may vary within the anticipated base pay range based on factors such as the ultimate location of the position and the selected candidate’s knowledge, skills, and abilities. Position may be eligible for additional compensation that may include an incentive program.

Job Description

The Insights & Advisory practice at Cox Automotive is seeking a Lead Data Engineer to contribute to the development and implementation of robust data solutions for Live Market Insights.  In this role, you will work on formulating solutions for enhancements to Live Market Insights, as well as pulling together various data sets, writing code to draft POC’s, and presenting to the Insights & Advisory Team using business intelligence visualization applications.  You will collaborate closely with the cross-functional teams to help drive incremental business value and solve complex data challenges for key Cox Automotive’s industry clients, including but not limited to OEMs and dealers. 

 

As an Insights and Advisory Lead Data Engineer, you will excel in the following areas: 

 

Data Collection and Preprocessing 

  • Identify and address data gaps essential for creation of client insights and capabilities. 

  • Gather customer and market data from diverse sources with an emphasis on extracting and writing data to AWS utilizing Snowflake and SQL 

  • Integrate and preprocess data to facilitate comprehensive analysis. 

 

Exploratory Data Analysis 

  • Conduct competitive landscape analyses to identify industry trends and potential disruptors. 

  • Evaluate the organization’s internal capabilities, resources, and opportunities for enhancement to better serve client needs. 

  • Perform exploratory data analysis to uncover patterns and valuable insights. 

 

Ideation and Feasibility Analysis 

  • Generate a list of innovative ideas and potential experiments based on data insights. 

  • Build robust business cases, quantifying the value proposition for each idea. 

  • Conduct feasibility analyses and experiments to assess viability and effectiveness. 

 

Model and Product Development and Deployment 

  • Work with Data Scientists to develop AI/ML models and proof of concepts to support strategic initiatives.  

  • Act as a stakeholder and data partner through the process of data and product discovery.  

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to formulate an AI/ML strategy for Live Market Insights 

  • Utilize expertise in AI/ML to advise on potential use cases and implementation strategies for clients. 

  • Implement data quality checks and monitoring systems to ensure data integrity and reliability. 

 

Strategic Planning and Decision Support 

  • Develop scenario plans and contingency strategies to navigate potential challenges. 

  • Gather customer and market insights to identify growth opportunities. 

  • Engage with key stakeholders to align on strategic priorities and secure buy-in. 

 

Stakeholder Engagement and Initiative Coordination 

  • Collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams and key stakeholders across the organization including stakeholders in Data Science, Product, and Engineering. 

  • Provide regular reports and presentations to communicate project progress, findings, and recommendations. 

  • Coordinate and drive data analytics discovery initiatives, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and timely delivery. 

 

Minimum Requirements 

  • Bachelor’s degree in a related discipline and 6 years’ experience in a related field OR a Master’s degree and 4 years’ experience OR a Ph.D. and 1 year of experience OR 10 years’ experience in a related field. 

  • 3 years of hands-on experience with cloud data solutions (GCP, AWS, Azure) in the design, creation, and implementation of strategic analyses and insights for clients. 

  • 3 years experience in at least one programming languages (e.g., SQL, Python, Node.js, Go or others) with a working knowledge of additional languages. 

  • 3 years experience with Snowflake. 

  • 3 years experience with Teraform

  • Knowledge of data modeling, data warehousing concepts, and dimensional modeling. 

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Experience with machine learning and AI services (e.g. Google Cloud AI Platform, Amazon SageMaker, Azure Machine Learning). 

  • Experience with Business Intelligence Visualization applications (e.g., Tableau, Power BI, Microstrategy). 

  • Experience in the automotive industry
