Data Engineer Intern - Minneapolis Regional Office

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Engineer Intern will use business analytics and data engineering to maintain scalable databases and enhance documentation. This role will provide support in improving and refactoring existing data ingestion through testing and automation projects. This role will support software projects across the organization by enabling high-quality, well-structured data models and warehouse solutions. 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

1. Document and map data elements, calculations, and requirements for existing Development App Power BI reports.
2. Review documentation with Data Engineering to ensure completeness
3. Ingest additional data from established pipelines (e.g., SQL Server to Snowflake via Azure Data Factory).
4. Automate the ingestion of various new data streams into Snowflake with notifications when new data is published.
5. Work with stakeholders to identify business use cases.
6. Ensure data is properly formatted and organized, including historical data.
7. Understand entity relationships and create ERDs for a SQL Server database.
8. Improve and refactor existing data ingestion services by increasing test coverage.
9. Fix low-priority bugs and enhance documentation.
10. Implements data validation, monitoring, and security best practices. 
11.  Ensures compliance with data governance policies, including access control and privacy requirements. 
12. Additional projects as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS: (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Training and Experience.)

• Recently acquired or in the process of earning a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, or a related field within the previous 12 months
• Ability to accept delegated assignments, work with moderate independence
• Must have time management skills to handle multiple projects on short deadlines
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate clearly and professionally in English.
• Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to collaborate effectively with various stakeholders.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.

PAY: $27/hour
