Job Summary
We are looking for a highly motivated Data Engineering Intern for the summer of 2025 to join our mission to deliver clean energy. Our company has grown rapidly and we’re adapting accordingly. You will work with our data engineering and analytics team to refine and scale our systems. In this role you could potentially work on a variety of areas, including identifying valuable new data sources, transforming data, automating a process, or introducing a new framework. Ultimately you will contribute to streamlining work, leveraging data, and delivering insights into our company and industry. This is an excellent opportunity to get hands-on software experience and also gain domain knowledge in the cleantech industry.
Responsibilities:
- Work with users to understand challenges and design impactful, software-based solutions.
- Integrate new data sources into systems. These might include data from business process tooling, telemetric data, or GIS data, among others.
- Develop and maintain data pipelines and orchestration. Code and integrate your pipelines with schedules and other control components.
- Model data depending on its use: (de)normalization, retaining change histories, validation, etc. Depending on the project this might also entail developing a report or dashboard to present data to users.
- Research new technologies and tools to increase productivity and quality.
- Automate routine activities across the business and software development (devops).
- Work with cloud infrastructure, including BIgQuery and other GCP services.
- Structure your work as phases of the software development lifecycle, performing best practices in requirements gathering, design process, and documentation.

Required education and experience:
- Rising Junior or Senior currently enrolled in a relevant 4-year degree program (e.g., Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Engineering, etc.).
- Programming foundations - exposure to coding through coursework or a project. We often work in Python but knowledge in other common languages will transfer (e.g., Java, JavaScript, C++).
- Database basics - exposure to database concepts and SQL through coursework or a project.
- Strong research and analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Eagerness to learn and contribute to an agile, innovative work environment.
