Job Summary:

The Data Analyst 1 will be responsible for collecting, processing, and analyzing large datasets to provide insights and recommendations to support business decisions. The ideal candidate will have strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently.

Key Responsibilities & Duties:

  • Collect, analyze, and interpret large datasets from various sources.
  • Develop and implement data analysis tools and techniques to identify patterns, trends, and insights.
  • Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand and identify their data needs and requirements.
  • Translate business stakeholders' needs into actionable data insights.
  • Communicate findings to stakeholders and provide recommendations to support decision-making.
  • Develop and maintain data models and databases.
  • Develop and maintain dashboards and reports to provide ongoing insights into performance metrics.
  • Monitor data quality and accuracy to ensure the integrity of data.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation.
  • Manage high-sensitivity data with strict adherence to data privacy and security policies.
  • Stay up to date with emerging data trends and technologies.
  • Other duties as assigned or requested.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities (KSAs): (Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions)

  • Strong data analysis and visualization skills, with proficiency in tools such as Excel, Power BI, Tableau, or other similar tools.
  • Solid understanding of SQL and relational databases.
  • Experience with programming languages such as Python, R, or Java is a plus.
  • Self-directed, energetic, flexible, and adaptable.
  • Ability to work/interact with senior managers and staff-level personnel.
  • Demonstrated ability in the art of influence/change management.
  • Strong understanding of the software development process from design, requirements gathering, analysis, deployment, testing methodologies, training, change management, and production support.
  • Strong customer service skills, organizational management, and exceptional communication skills.
  • Solid understanding of business practices with fundamental conceptual understanding of project management methodology.
  • Ability to maintain a business perspective in the establishment of project priorities.
  • Highly organized with strong attention to detail.

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in mathematics, statistics, computer science, or a related field.
  • PMP and/or equivalent project management certification, preferred.
  • 5+ years of overall IT experience and 3+ years of experience in data analysis or a related field.
  • Proficient in data analysis tools and techniques such as SQL, Excel, and Tableau.
  • Experience with data modeling and database design.
  • Experience in a true data warehousing environment (Oracle or SQL Server environment) with expertise in data clustering (Star Schema, Snowflake), ETL creation/management, and strong experience in relational database management systems (i.e., Oracle, MySQL, MS SQL, DB2).
  • Experience in building and deploying data mining and data reporting solutions in an Enterprise environment (i.e., Business Objects, Teradata).
  • Experience in web solutions (i.e., HTML, PHP, Perl, XML) and in CMS solutions (Joomla, Jive Software).
  • Significant experience in managing global process and systems initiatives.
  • Experience in Process Mapping techniques, leading workshops, and leading development cycles using Agile/Scrum Methodology.
  • Strong analytical skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Working Conditions & Physical Requirements:

  • International travel may be required to support ICANN-related meetings as requested, with trips lasting 7-10 days each, approximately three times per year, likely on different continents.
  • Willingness and ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
  • Ability to travel without restrictions globally, frequently with limited notice, is required.
  • Comfort level with an international work environment that requires availability at times outside normal business hours.
  • Work is performed in a normal office environment with limited privacy and some exposure to background noise.
  • While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand and walk, regularly required to sit, and frequently required to talk or hear; use hands and arms to reach, handle, or feel. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, and the ability to adjust focus.
  • The employee may occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
