Data Analyst

We are looking for a data analyst with strong technical and analytical skills to join our data and analytics team to help us enhance our analytics and insights capabilities. In this role, you will partner closely with business stakeholders to develop new metrics, reporting, and insights to support data-driven decision-making and drive positive business outcomes. We’re seeking someone who is not only technically proficient but also has the ability to communicate insights in a clear and compelling way to a variety of stakeholders.

You will report to Fleetio’s Director of Data and Analytics and be part of a team of analysts and engineers working across the modern data stack. As an analyst, you will be responsible for owning analytics and insights for specific business areas and translating raw data into actionable insights that will guide strategic business decisions. Who you are

The ideal candidate for this role is a highly analytical and detail-oriented individual with a passion for turning data into insights. You are comfortable using SQL to work with large complex datasets, collaborating with stakeholders to develop and track key metrics, and leveraging the modern data stack to create meaningful analysis and reporting. You have the skills to translate ambiguous and non-technical asks into specific technical tasks and deliverables. You also possess excellent communication skills, allowing you to translate technical findings into clear, impactful recommendations for stakeholders across the business.

Your impact

• Collaborate with other Fleetians around the company to conduct deep-dive analyses and translate data into actionable insights and recommendations that inform strategic decisions and drive business outcomes.
• Own analytics for stakeholders across product, finance, customer success, engineering, and other areas to understand their data needs, define key metrics, gather requirements, and make sure that required data is collected, modeled, and made available.
• Enable self-serve analytics and ensure that stakeholders have access to insights by building and maintaining dashboards to track key business metrics and performance indicators.
• Architect clean datasets for reporting and analysis using tools like dbt to model and transform data, while ensuring that company metrics have a reliable single source of truth.
• Contribute to data governance and enforce best practices on our data and reporting platform. Coach and advise other data analysts, product managers, engineers, etc. on data modeling, SQL query optimization, and reporting.

Your Experience

• 2+ years of experience in an analytics, business intelligence, or a related role using data to create actionable insights and recommendations that drive business outcomes
• Experience collaborating with multiple business functions and supporting stakeholders by developing key metrics and delivering impactful analysis and reporting
• Excellent communication and project management skills with a customer service focused mindset
• Expert SQL skills with strong experience transforming raw data into clean datasets, optimizing code, and troubleshooting & improving others' code
• Strong understanding of data warehousing and data modeling concepts(e.g. Star Schema)
• Experience with data modeling using dbt
• Expertise with Snowflake, databricks, BigQuery, or another cloud data warehouse
• Experience with version control tools such as Github or Gitlab
• Experience building dashboards and reports in Looker, Tableau, Sisense/Periscope, Metabase or similar
• Strong understanding of schemas for popular third-party SaaS applications (e.g. Salesforce, Marketo, Snowplow, Segment)

Considered a plus

• Experience with data science notebooks like Hex, Jupyter, or similar (preferred)
• Proficiency with Python
• Experience with advanced analytics and forecasting
• Experience with ELT tools such as Airbyte or Fivetran
